so kevin smith and the view askew peoples wrapped up shooting of the film a few months back. and im excited as a mother f**ker to see this, clerks 2: passion of the clerks(name will most likely be changed)...i think tis slated for a april release in the states so we should get it maybe a couple of months after.

anyone else excited about it? or a fan of kevin smith? or jay and silent bob?

I wonder if the sequel would be possible if they had stuck to their original ending. I'll wait for the reviews, tbh.

This is OLD news and, along with Indy 4, has been stuck in development hell for quite sometime! I am a huuuuuuuuuge fan of Kevin Smith. I think he is one of the most gifted screenwriters I have exver had the pleasure of watching/knowing. I think he has enough to make a sequel viable i.e. he wont rehash all the old jokes!

Fair point WRMF. I've been a fan of Smith since day one, but my suspicion that he's lost his mojo has only grown stronger with this news. Lame-ass Jersey Girl, now he's doing sequels ffs.

IMO Smith has never tooped the original Clerks. Only Chasing Amy has come close, the rest of his films while ffunny really didn't have the same edge.

Basically at the end of Dogma, released in 1999, he mentioned that Jay and Silent Bob would return in Clerks 2: Hardly Clerkin' however the script for that movie, after several re-workings, eventually became Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back which was released two years later in 2001. Later on whilst working on the Clerks 10th Anniversary DVD that was released last year Kevin realised he still loved Dante and Randal and having promised Jason Mewes he could play Jay again if he got clean (which he did - 3 years drug-free this year!) he started work on Clerks 2: The Passion of the Clerks which is now simply Clerks II... there was certainly no development hell as ever since Kevin has been under Harvey Weinstein's wing he has been able to make whatever he wants as his films always make money (yes, even Jersey Girl!).

Anyway I saw an advance screening last month in NJ and I absolutely loved it! Apparently we'll be getting it in August in the UK and the US DVD release has already been announced for December.
