How's he done this season?

I miss him at Rovers, when he was fit he was brilliant in our front row. his replacement Con Mika is improving but not in the same class as Clint... yet!

He's been good at times.

He shouldn't be starting.

Ideally when everyone is fit, at best he'd be off the bench.

With the way things are shaping up, he'd potentially be a depth player next year rather than regular fixture in the top 17.

Only had 2 real shockers. Although doesn't make much of an impact so like Big Mick said. Full strength would be in our 17. Off the field sponsors love him. A few appearances on tv. Helps get the team noticed.

I don't mind him. Has done some good things on the field. A long way from the worst player to pull on a Panthers jersey.

He's leading the club in terms of offloads. He's not much, but he's the closest thing we have to an attacking backrower.

Lewis is a great attacking backrower but he's in woeful form. As bad as his last year in the centres when we didn't want to re sign him

We let Waterhouse go ....we buy newton and ciraldo.....bad decision.

Newton is barely first grade these days.....just topping up his superannuation.

Newton is better then Ciraldo and Galea... but if we had no injuries IMO he wouldn't deserve a place in this years squad. For next season he should only be a depth player. IMO our top 17 should be something along the lines of:

1. Lachlan Coote
2. Josh Mansour
3. Michael Jennings
4. Dean Whare
5. Etu Uaisele
6. Travis Burns / Blake Austin
7. Harry Siejka / Luke Walsh
8. Tim Grant
9. Kevin Kingston
10. Sam McKendry
11. Nigel Plum
12. Lewis Brown
13. Luke Lewis

14. Dayne Weston
15. Mitch Achurch
16. and 17. between:
Ryan Simpkins
Blake Austin
Nathan Smith
Vaipuna Tia Kilifi
Travis Burns (if Austin starts at 5/8)

I don't see much need for any of these old fringe first graders from this season to hold spots next season. They can just be used as experienced depth during the Origin period or when injuries hit us. Otherwise they're just holding us back from developing strongly toward the end of 2013 and onwards.

Well no.

Waterhouse was on $400k and Newton & Ciraldo combined would be on just over half that.

Waterhouse was extremely poor the last two years.

That's why they were signed in the first place.

But injuries hit us.

Waterhouse was that player that tackled hard, ran hard, cleaned up after the others..

Just ask Luke Lewis about Trent...I bet he wishes he was still here...because LL is doing the same this year....and people wonder why his form is scratchy.

Anyone that spent anytime playing in the forwards recognises the guy that does all the hard work and yet receives little recognition for it.
Smart football judges know that a well balanced team needs these players.....yet we let one of the best go for Ciraldo, Newton,Plumm, Galea,...

Would we have won the comp in 91 without Van der voort?...maybe...but Geyer and Carty needed him to do their best.

.Real football is about the small things being done right.....yet so many just look at the superstars.
