definately agree with Ryan, does some wonderful things at club level but doesnt seem to do it at rep level. another one is Gower, I dont think he's ever shone when given the chance at rep level

You know it's funny you say that, because there was a time when QLD selected Langer, amid huge controversy, when critics labelled him as too small for the Origin arena. That was ofcourse prior to his performances in the maroon jersey.....

You never actually know till you try them......

I know all about Langer and funny thing is I never mentioned anything about Hazem being small. Langer is one of the greatest player of the modern era, Hazem can kick a ball good (okay understatement because he is awesome goal kicker).

Origin standard players have nothing to do with size I think. Like some players are amazing and deserve to play Origin, some players are awesome players but dont have the 'Origin Aura' about them. Hazem is good, as someone said solid at best he cannot be outstanding.

Future Origin players will include:
Cory Paterson
Dean Collis

Hmm... who else?

Rhys Wesser is another player that has never stood up in origin.

Wesser has been in terrible form the two seasons he was selected for Origin. Played no better or no worse than he did for Penrith at the time.

i didnt see this coming a mile away :sarcasm:

Show me an Origin game where Hindmarsh replicated his club form. You can't, because there hasn't been one.

Jason Ryles - Another classic MIA player. Can't take the pressure of Origin

Trent Barrett - See Anasta

You don't have a clue Moffo. If only Barrett and Ryles produced for the Dragons like they have done for NSW.

You're a moron. I've lost count of the times that Hindmarsh has cut down a Qld break because he just keeps going. One game in particular, game 1 2005. I think Hindmarsh made nearly 40 tackles in the 1st half. NSW lost due to the Kimmorley pass but they wouldn't even have been in it without him.

Nathan Hindmarsh. Average club player, awful Origin player.

Even if Razor posted this, I would agree 100%

He is a robot whose workrate cannot be questioned at club level ... invaluable to the Eels

But at Origin he is nothing, doesn't run hard enough, doesn't hit hard enough, doesn't make breaks, isn't overly skillful with the ball and Origin takes away his greatest asset ... the ability to play 80 minutes at the same speed - club speed

Others that are decent at club level, not up to Origin and never will be - Simpson, Lyon, Cooper, Ryan, Kite .... Oops  ... they all got picked ... AGAIN

Nurse ?

Oink !

Game 2, 2001 and the decider in 2004. Barrett has been consistently excellent in Origin footy.

 at the mention of Ryles, Simpson and Barrett...

Surprised Ryles hasn't been recalled now, he excels at that level...

As for Queenslanders that think the definition of effective at origin level is a fat bloke with a moronic haircut that puts on a few high shots, has an intimidating stare and a penchant for giving away stupid penalties

Good players win Origin matches, not boofheads putting on cheap shots. If Queensland have beaten superior NSW opposition in the past, it's because they have out-enthused them in things like line speed, commitment on defence etc- not because of a few overhyped fights, high shots, "mongrel" or whatever.
