Have you been watching him recently, or are you going by last season? He's been one of manly's best all season, solid in defence as well as setting up tries, kicking game is on song as is his running game. He's been one of the best for the team that is coming first. Unless there are better players in his position infront of him, then yes, i dont see why he shouldnt be picked. If talking about form, how does cooper get picked, exactly what has he done at club level this year?

I wouldn't want someone in a Blues jersey who didn't want to be there. Couldn't help the team in any way.
Lyons (my opinion) was picked because of past glory - hasn't been in scintillating form this season. I hope Monaghan will do well for our sake (NSW).

Brett Kenny faked injury many many years ago to not play rep games (in his book The natural) as he didn't want to play. Kenny is / was my God and why I follow Eels, but it wasn't fun reading that.
At least Lyons just came out and said no and why - good on him.

I think its funny Lyon has done this. He is basically saying, well you didnt pick me to begin with so now your in trouble and you want me, no thanks, get some other fool. I dont see any reason why he should be stood down, he simply doesnt want to play in the game.

Lyon has a history of not following process when backing out of his responsibilities. I'd imagine his NRL contract would state certain ways to go about things, as did his contract with Parra.

In this case, he was lucky that Bellamy didn't want to chance picking him and have him play without passion.

Lyon has actually done nothing wrong. he has been honest and Bellamy didn't select him. therefore he didn't have to ask for exemption from rep duties and the NRL couldn't stand him down as he hasn't been selected. this time around Lyon has done absolutely nothing wrong.

Apparantly has a family issue, something to do with one of his kids. If true he has done the right thing.
