Coach Sheens to commit till end of 2010

Noyce `we had to act fast to secure the services of a coach who has won less than 40% of games since 1996. It is hard to find coaches with such pedigree and having missed out on Steve Ghosn, Phil Economides, Ken Shine and Tony Kemp we had to move fast'

Seems outta left field ...though weve seen what he can do when the keys are all fit, firing and on the field.

Surely after our sh*te performances of the last 2 years we'd wait til at least round 13 before even started contemplating that.

It's alright if noyce has to pull the trigger he can whore out another 6 home games to pay the contract out. What a stupid stupid stupid decision even by Noyce standards

And Tommy SHines may well improve his post 1996 win ratio to 39%
Yay .. rejoice for we are the Wests Tigers
No other sporting club is as tolerant of mediocrity and under-achievement as us

it wouldn't surprise me if Sheen's management approached the club with a formal offer from St George and Noyce shat himself....

I'd almost take Nathan Brown ahead of the old, past it, clown like myth
What a joke ... made the 8 one year in 5 and it will be 1 year in 6 shortly

they should have waited till around june next year to make this decision
I sort of agree, but the uncertainity of who is coaching might hinder our recruitment and retention next year.
So I am going to say it is a positive move,at least I hope so.

I can only think of three or four other coaches that have the experience and the expertise to pull off a premiership, and they are stuck at their respective teams.

I suppose it is better to stick with the devil you know, and have some stability in the coaching department, so it is easier to retain our good players.

There are two ways to evaluate this development

Option A - It is a undeserved and unnessessary contract extention for a man for has failed to lead us to the finals in 2 consecutive seasons and 4 seasons out of 5. A man whose recruitment, selection policy and results over the past 2 seasons has led alot to be desired and would of led to dismissal at some clubs. The players looked stale and unmotived for the last 2 months of the season and the supposed supercoach had no answers as to how to turn the tide.

Option B - It is a relief as we all know Steven Noyce would of taken the cheap ass option and appointed Royce Simmons on a 3 season deal. Complete with a Home Game against the Panthers at Penrith Park to mark the occasion. Perhaps increases our chance of keeping Benji Marshall if he is true to his word.

------------------------------------

Most supporters i imagine will be pleased however im not very amused. I imagine that once the great supercoach eventually moves on there will a truckload of coaches lineing up for the gig. In what other workplace does a man get a 3 year extension after failing so miserably to reach any targets and goals set in 2 consecutive seasons.
