Coaching options

I'd be tempted to give Ricky Stuart a chance, keep Nolan (if he wants to stay) and let Stuart have complete control of choosing the coaching/training staff. SK has lost all confidence, therefore the players have lost confidence in him, there is no way out of this rutt for Parra and SK.

He had no idea at Cronulla what's changed now?

If we were to get a new coach I wouldn't get JT. We would want an experienced coach with runs on the board. Not a rookie.

Bring Back Daniel Anderson - give him 3 years with full support from all around, top to bottom, no interference, and pay him top $$$$$, ideally a most attractive escalating performance contract and make sure Daniel has all the power to do whatever he wants to achieve his goals. If he wants to get rid of our best player --- LET HIM. We will win premierships with DA. Shame on you 3P - shame, shame, shame...

Let SK develop the academy/juniors with Nolan - that's if DA wants them.
DA & Nolan could be a great combo. Not sure about Arthur's at this point.
Sounds like he is worth keeping on as well.
The missing link is Daniel Anderson - thats if 3P bite their lip, take a back seat, put their tails between their legs and stay out of the way wherever possible and just look after everything else DA does not want to handle....

He's had some time out of the game to freshen up, watch the game from afar and study the different teams and tactics. He's coached over 200 games with a win % over 50, so he's a proven coach over a long period of time. I reckon he was burnt out towards the end, he'll be better for the rest.

Ricky didn't have the resources at the sharks either (not talking about players)

If Daniel Anderson were allowed to see out his contract we could have had Wayne Bennett or Des Hasler coaching us this year.

tonight was terrible and yep there need to be some changes to our style of play. But the coach does not miss tackles or drop the ball. As Matty Johns has said, sometimes non performing footy players should be treated like sh&t race horses.

We have done the whole change the coach thing time and time again. Maybe for once let's blame the players, they are out there for the 80mins, sk can't make them do anything on that field if the players don't want to do it. It's about bloody time that the 17 men that put that jersey on play with some pride and heart and respect the jersey not just there paycheck.

I cannot believe some of the comments I'm reading.
We had the following out;
Hayne
Hindy - believe he he never should have made the trip
Ben Smith
Fui Fui
Loko

Now imagine we had those players in the team and cowboys were missing

Thurston
Matt Scott
Johnson
Taumalolo

We have the worst injury toll in the comp and when it's a close comp it will hurtas you can see. I will admitt we need offloads

Thing is it's up to the coach to make the players play with pride. If he can't do that then maybe he isn't the best man for the job.

That'd be a decent excuse if we were beaten by 16 points. But a first grade side should never been beaten 42-6 and find it acceptable regardless of their injury toll and if you're playing the best team in the comp, which we weren't. Do you really think having Loko, Hayne and Smith in the side would have meant we'd have conceded less than 8 tries?

keep the coach.

Unfortunately this will be the outcome, but I just can not see any upside to Kearney as an NRL coach (Nolan is the man fixing the juniors). Every decision SK makes - from POH coming in for Fui, to Sio playing fullback instead of Burt, to Hindy playing while still clearly sick, to Maguire being subbed in for Hindy is just bad decision making. He just does not have the Rugby League intelligence to be a good head coach, this will not change, ever. Give him his this year, fire him once we get the spoon, we lick our wounds and move on...

Just read an interesting comment on the Telegraph website, under our match report.

Of course it could just be trolling or have could be nothing to it (like much stuff on here, my own posts included) - but might be interesting to see if there's any truth in this if things don't shape up over the next few weeks?

i made a comment on here late last year and was abused by eels fans but the mail was very strong from inside the camp that kearney was told after round 22 last year he had 6 weeks of 2012 to have the eels firing , he was getting the halves combo he wanted so no excuses and results required , ricky stuart was approached and he really doesnt want to do it this year as he wants to be dedicated to origin but there will be a rush conference now on monday and dont be surprised if it happens before week 6, ricky stuart new coach . got to feel a little sorry for kearney because the eels forwards are crap , old or just park footballers , does anyone think keating or matua should be playing first grade ?? as for ben roberts the bulldogs must have been laughing as he packed his bags and the eels must be wondering why in the hell they paid 1/2 million a season for sandow , his defence is awful and really doesnt do anything behind a weak pack , at souths they had such a huge pack that even if they werent great they still made inroads and he was able to do some good stuff but he wont make a impact behind the eels softies . anyway hope you eels fans like ricky stuart lol, good luck
I haven't been a massive fan, but at least Ricky would bring some first grade-quality experience to the role I guess?
