both, i can see no reason why i can support the socceroos to WC glory and also league
soccer in australia is a shambles A-League or not so it poses little risk at this stage to league, nor do i think it ever will...

Im the same ....both.

I will hope for a Wallaby/Socceroo/Aussie netball/Aussie cricket/Aussie olympics/Comm Games etc etc etc victory all the time, despite not following the games like I do RL.

Please categorize me.

wishy-washy code whore.

I guess it comes down to if u actually like that Particular sport or not. For me I like both League and Soccer.

I'm a proud Parra supporter and a season ticket holder But I have been following Our International Soccer team for quite a while now and I was one of the 82000 at telstra on Wednesday night which I will never forget.

I could remember Schwazer saving those Penalty kicks against Canada in 93 in his 1st game for Oz at the sfs to get us into the playoff against Argentina and also the heartbreak of the Iran qualifiers just made me more determined to see the socceroos qualify.

Saying that I could not give a f**k about the Wallabies I was cheering when Wilkinson put that Field goal over. We all know they are 2nd rate to League players. Best example of these is of all the League players that just walked into that side.

When one sport does well, it usually has a follow-on effect for other sports as well.

Soccer's success will in no way hurt League, but may actually help it by creating goodwill towards sport in general.

i will always support bulldogs more than any other country in the world. im greek i follow greece but even if they win the world cup they will neva pass my bulldogs. i have grown up supporting this team and rape alligations, salary cap scandal or anything else will neva make me stop wearing my jersey with pride.

Depends on the code.

I'm kind of glad that the Socceroos got the home, even though Soccer doesn't do anything at all for my sporting tastes.

If it was Australia in, say, International Rules (or if Australia ever decides to compete in an AFL International) then they can all go and get buggered by a pack of Jack Russells for all I care. In fact, they'd probably enjoy it...

I agree. Soccer is not a threat.

I loved the game the other night, but still nothing on League.

Aslong as you enjoy League who cares if other people prefer Soccer or AFL..

I don't believe soccer is much of a threat to us. Many League fans are already soccer fans anyway. Many of us play soccer. Not much is going to change. Most kids play soccer at one time of another, at least in the shire they do.

This sucess, is a big threat to Union though. I've no doubt less wallaby jeresys will be sold. And when we start getting regular home internationals (when we join Asia), suddenly union wont be the only football code around with a regular schedule of international matches. I believe they will be hit at the turnstyle. Many bandwagoners will leave Union for soccer.

Sports probly the only area i really am proud of this country in. I love living here but dont like alot of our political figures (plus i cant be the only person who detests our naional anthem).
Cricket and league are sports i love. As far as soccer is concerned i dont particularly love it(just support liverpool) but it's good to see the Soceroos make the world cup, specially as Ireland dint make it this time round :(

Without turning this thread political, I couldn't agree more. Some of our foreign policy makes me embarressed to be an Australian. But I was as proud as ever Wednesday night. A side that basically reflects the mix that is our nation, giving it to a side that has won 2 soccer world cups. The socceroos are far more reflective of our nation, than 15 private school boys representing the Wallabies.

I also love the fact that with a small nation we are so bloody good at the sports we compete in (even doing something in soccer now).
