commentators getting off over every day plays...

Has anyone noticed the commentators are totally jacking themselves over a good, but not great play?

It seems in there job to sell the game they have been instucted to get wood when ever does something half decent.

Jarrad Hayne's chip and chase last night was a very good play- but how many times have we seen it- in the 80's it happened all the time. It was a simple chip and chase with a good bounce.

Hayne is in Red hot form his 40 /20's was great but imagine what Ricky Stuart would have done to 40/20s.....

I love Benji... but the way the carry on about him sometimes.......

So you yourself are saying it's something that hasn't happened in 20 years :?

Surely they can get excited over that???

For the record - yes, I am aware that there has been a chip and chase, regather and score in the last 20 years... HOWEVER it is the dream play for any young footballer to score off a chip + chase in the dying minutes to win a match. I've NEVER seen that happen before (even in the 80s where there were 6 chip and chase tries per week).
It was an ENORMOUS play - the solo chip and chase is rare enough, for it to work in the last few minutes of a massive game - the commentators SHOULD go off. That's their job.

Imagine a monotone Rabs: "Hayne chips and chases, oh look, he caught it and scored. Simply routine stuff there from Parramatta...."
That'd have the fans tuning in....

I agree to an extent. It's their job to hype up the game and we all know they are very passionate about it.

But some of them seriously must ejaculate during the 'miracle' plays.

In the context of the game it was a very important play. The Eels were only 2 points ahead and Haynes play made it so that the game was sealed.

But Hayne sliced the opposition 3 times from deep in Parra's on half. It's a rare feat, that's why Gus climaxed.

The media (ie the commentators) are there to sell the product.
I have no problem in them going over the top - have you listened to the thugby lately ??
Gorden Bray " And there is XXXXX , son of sheep farmer from the Waikato Marlins - Hes tackled by XXXXXX son of XXXXXX and a churchie old boy, the good old greens - greens for ever"

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Mind you in the rugby, there are more stoppages than a dodgy taiwanese clock so I suppose that just have to give the full bio of every player.....

I agree - Sticky would have nailed the 40/20!

Matt Bowen ..rd 6 2006 .Cows v Knights..down 16-12 with about 5 mins left....chip over the defensive line ,regather & step Thiaday to win the game.

Phil Blake would have yawned
that

THATS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT!

Slaters double kick chip in SOO was something special.... but they turn the arse lick ometer up to 100 for any decent play... makes me sick!!

ok I'm calming down now........... taking my medication.......

But do you get my point- when Benji pops a good ball instead of a well done they give a standing ovation....

Next they will be talking up a scrum "WIN".............

I think in the context of the build up of that match and the form of both players lately, they were always going to go off when one of them produced the kind of play that salivating viewers were hoping to see. The game was made to order.

And Benji's round the back pass deserved every accolade it got in my opinion. That is a rare feat.

We saw an equally good one tonight from Watts for the Cows. And Soward has been doing them all year. But Hayne is just on fire at the moment, and the game needs a new superstar. He is the new face of RL.

But yeah THIS was a similar one. Again, one for the Tigers fans to replay over and over.

Agreed Benji was better than Hayne for mine- But thats through my black and gold eyes

No I agree - but in the context of the game Hayne's was just a bigger play.

Don't forget his awesome dummy to get in the position to do the pass.

I agree in part however the examples that you have used are pathetic as they are probably two of the best plays of the season, although Hayne's chip last week was better.

I don't mind commentators getting excited for plays from the likes of Hayne and Marshall. For me, they are the type of players I want to watch cause they're entertaining. They don't stick to the norm style of play that unfortunately many of the players today adhere to.

It's when the commentators start blowing for some cheap arse play run by the someone like Kimmorley that I think is exaggerated.

And Blacklock's chip and chase is by far the best individual play that I have seen. Was lucky enough to see that live. A true entertainer.

I only used one example...

I was only refering to Haynes chip and chase the Benji comment was not directed at a particular play- just speaking in general

Hayne got a good bounce - I think a dozen NRL players would have scored that try with that bounce...benji has pulled off a couple of great chips this year but hasnt got the bounce....

Hope you haven't jinxed him into doing something really stupid/illegal, embarrassing the game, getting suspended and being removed from all advertising campaigns...
