Commonwealth Games 2018

To be honest, I don't get the point of the Commonwealth Games (I don't watch the Olympics either, but I guess they at least give chemists something to do). I'd rather watch a bunch of drunk truck drivers piss on a wall (I'm assuming this is not one of the events).

I still only care about the sports I enjoy...or the ones are just sheer lunacy (more applicable to the Winter Olympics to be fair).

And while I do enjoy, for example, some track and field events... the Olympics or the Comm Games are the only time you get real good quality competition

Yeh, see I just don't like races. Doesn't look any different regardless of whether you are watching Usain Bolt, or the local under 15s.

Sport needs to involve a ball, or some other mechanism to necessitate team tactics.

I prefer the field stuff to the track, tbh. People throwing spears and cannon balls is strangely entertaining to me.

Big cycling fan too, and the good thing about the games is that the best track riders (who generally spend the track season f**king around on the road getting world champions disqualified from the tour, CAVENDISH YOU DICK!) all opt in for the chance to win a medal.

.

Field events are a bit better. They could improve the whole offering by conducting the javelin and the 100m sprint at the same time on the same piece of ground.

I'd rate the opening ceremony a 5. Started off OK but went backwards some time before they brought Charlie and Camilla off the bench. It didn't help much either when coach Beattie kept his beak in play at every opportunity he could.
