Is it time to bring in an extra player if someone is ruled out by concussion (or injury)?? Maybe they can pick someone from the U20s

I think your idea would be more suited for players lost due to infringements like high tackles, diving at the legs and so on.

The concussion aspect could potentially be exploited. A player could claim to be concussed, fail the s.c.a.t test and on comes a substitute.

And if you lose 2 players to concussion? Or 3? Or 4?
You have 4 on the bench to cover all injuries

Nah don't like it. You just know teams would rort it. Four on the bench is enough.

I didn't see the game just played. I'm guessing Rorters lost a player to concussion?

Get both club doctors to administer it together. It should be a fairly black and white test. That could limit any rorting.

Ive said for a while that the total number of bench players should be expanded or even bad limitless. The number of change would till be kept at 6 or 8 (so the rate of player turnover would be the same as ever) but i think the over all quality would improve markedly....

The coach can carry Backs on the bench, not worrying about being a forward short. A lot of these player might not even get a run, but if there is a guy in the 17 playing terribly or the match is a flogging and the coach wants to blood a new kid in a good environment he is able to.

This 4-player bench is a vestigial remnant from when changers we limitless and the game needed some restriction. Now with the limited changes, the 4 player limit is obsolete and it is beginning to lower the quality of the game....

So more like rugby where they have 8 reserves but when you come off you're not allowed back on? (well unless you're a frontrower)

No, i reckon the coach should be free to use 1 player rotated 8 times or 8 players rotated once each. It should be the coaches discretion....

The players on the bench would go into the game knowing their realistic prospects for game time, the coach is able to play the best team available to him and the fans get the best game possible.

And having an extra few guy on the bench might add a bit more to the spectacle; rather than 4 guys sitting bored on a bench, you have a dozen hanging out (half of whom would know they probably wont get on the field and would feel like having some fun with the crowd instead)

And the competition could be renamed the (Australian) NRL Bowl.

The winner could play the winner of the (English) Super League in a game called the...

NRL League?

Super NRL?

It will come to me. Cannot call it a world series, there are teams from Wales, NZ, England, Australia and France with a chance of playing the game.

Imagine the outcry during Origin time if the squads are like 25+ players each and the club sides still have to play.
