It's f**king laughable that people think that a club like the Raiders is on equal footing with Sydney clubs for TPA

Good grief

I remember Laurie Daley, Mal Meninga, Bradley Clyde, Brett Mullins, Steve Walters, Ricky Stuart.

Wasn't a bad side that.

Better than the Sharks have had.

Or the Warriors and Titans.

Did anyone say that?

Let me check the tape....

Hang on are you actually arguing that canberra have an equal playing field in relation to third party payments compared to Sydney clubs?

your direct response, quoting this post.

Of course they are, you're looking for a reason not to blame the fact that your club has been poorly managed for a long time now and is viewed as having a shit culture and poor reputation.

So yes, someone did say that and it was you.

Canberra is a one team town they shouldnt be so badly off, poor management has certainly played a part imo.

A one team town that is basically a government town with little to no corporate dollars, a team that can not get any national media attention save for when our players f**k up, is never on FTA because we are such a small market, and thus their stars do not have the marketing potential of those in big markets. Why would a company invest in one of our players with their extremely limited national reach, other those playing in big market cities, with large fan bases, national exposure etc? They wouldnt and they dont.

No question about that, poor management has played it's role, but to suggest that we are not at a significant disadvantage when it comes to obtaining significant TPA to help retain and recruit star players is both ignorant and false.

Im not saying you arent at a disadvantage but lets not go overboard, you should still be able to compete and win. Every team is at a disadvantage to brisbane basically and plenty of teams have been better than them the last few years. Canberra had stars, they had to punt them for off field indiscretions which is unlucky but no fault of TPA or salary cap. Its a cop out fueled by Rickys whinge that your current position is a salary cap or TPA issue, imo poor coaching and management and some bad luck with your playing roster(going back to campo and that 5 year deal) has far more to do with your recent struggles than money imo.

I've got no issue with saying poor coaching and management, and behaviour of players has contributed significantly to our lack of results recently. But none of that actually negates the fact we are in fact disadvantaged by the current salary cap and specifically the TPA

the two are completely separate issues, one does not negate the other.

There are probably 13 or 14 teams who can claim that. Is Canberra the worst effected? I doubt it. Look at some of the players you have now and have had in the past. Shillo, TLL, White, Papali, Dugan, Ferguson, Campo, Monaghan..all rep players who have signed or re-signed in Canberra. You have great juniors coming through so while you are disadvantaged you are not that bad off.

Surely some of the fine businesses in Fishwick could stump up some sponsorship dollars?

Maybe a TPA deal for unlimited porn for your marquee signing?

Wipe the tears away and read my whole post. I clearly said TPA are easier to get in Sydney.

If you want to have a discussion then fine but I really don't care if you're upset that your team is shit atm and you want to have a whinge about it.
