Boyd rarely played like an international for the Knights, and we did get better when he left. Heaps better.

Shannon Hegarty was an international too.

Yeah, should have said current international.

And Tommy, not all Knights fans agree with that statement.

I don't hate him at all. Was great for us last year, poor early this season (playing injured) but came good around mid season & was playing good footy until the depression thing happened.

He was poor early (and injured) this year, came good... and then bailed around what, Round 19 after we lost meekly to the Titans? So he had maybe a small purple path in the middle of the year. He was good for us for the second half of last year, and when he played well, we played well... but he never really gave a shit.

Because all teams get better by releasing one of their few internationals hey.

For starters, Boyd ain't that great. He has received marque status in the game due to one great season in 2010 and playing on the wing next to Inglis at rep level.

Secondly, it doesn't even matter how good a player might be...it gets to a stage where they have jerked your club around too much and it's not worth the trouble anymore. I sympathised with Boyd when the depression thing came out and I was happy for him to stay on and have another chance but the way he's treated the club (while it's given him so much undeserved support) since then is shocking.

Thirdly, the backend of the season proved we don't need him one bit...in fact he was probably holding us back. An 18-year-old rookie and Kurt f**king Gidley performed much better for us at fullback than Boyd had all year.

Fourthy, he's not a current international.

Stockwell is an excellent sining for the Knoughts. We're pretty much over a barrell due to pre-Gould Penrith-style salary cap mismanagement. We just don't have anyone with Gould's intelligence to run a broom through the place and rebuild properly (and actually take advantage of our large junior base, all our good young players keep going elsewhere).

That's the problem with thinking you own juniors, how many Penrith juniors has Gould used to get Penrith where it is

I haven't seen much of Stockwell but someone at the Knights must have some faith that he has potential if they've given him a 3 year contract. Hopefully he's just been a bit of a late bloomer like a lot of forwards are and he'll get there.

Only 26 so his best is still ahead if him hopefully, and he hasn't played a ton of games so the body should be in decent nick.

Not against this signing, after letting go of Mateo and Bukuya he's a very good player to add to the roster to counter those losses. Has more size and aggression than Bukuya and will have a better attitude and work ethic than Mateo.

Manly have signed Addison Demetriou from the Roosters. Wish we hadn't of let him go, Manly have now gained potentially a very good back-rower. Good luck to him.
