Good luck Ben. He's had a number of POTY awards at the Warriors. I wish we still could shoulder charge, he lost his defensive mojo when that went. Came through in the same 20s team as Sonny Fai, and he was dominant. Not well known but he actually signed with Newcastle as a teenager but got homesick.

If he was homesick surely he would have gone to play under Wayne in Brisbane for nothing?

Paul Vaughan has reportedly re-signed with the St George Illawarra Dragons until the 2021 season.

Smart work wrapping him up for longer.

The bloke is killing it. I pray NSW select him in over Easter Island head.

Seems a little strange though to be rushing to sign him to a 2 year extension when he is in the first year of a 3 year deal, more so because the salary cap for 2018 and beyond has not been finalised.

With the form he is displaying (and quite frankly the talent he has always had - Canberra SO stupid letting him go) I see no issue with it.

Hey, JT signed a 10 year deal without the cap being finalised, so I see no problem with this one.

Maybe they wanted to sign him up to an extended deal before he gets that inevitable Origin selection and they have to pay a higher premium. (Yes I know all contracts have rep footy clauses, but the player is in a much better position to raise the price once he has those rep games under his belt rather than prior to selection)

Thing is Taumalolo was coming off contract. Vaughan isn't off contract until the end of 2019 hence the rush to tie him to an extension, right now, seems a bit perplexing.

As I said - leave it another year to 18 months and if the bloke is entrenched in the Origin team (as he should be), his price is up.

Calculated risk I guess, but one probably worth taking for them.

the dragons didn't sign vaughn for unders, they paid big $, reported 700k at the time, so f**ks me why they'd bother giving him more,

$600k

And who is saying they signed him for unders? What's your point? Do you know what the extension was worth?

More valuable insights.....
