Damn the titans just can never do anything right. The NRL must be loosing patience with them now.

It would be very NRL to turn around & blame the Titans for The Pride of the League poaching a player after they medically retire another absurdly long contract to an injured player working in their top notch head office, exempt from the cap- earning corporate top level exec pay, higher than the head of any public service department of literally thousands of staff, tens of even- running hundreds of millions in projects every year, lives in their hands in many cases... Nah sam flicking rubber bands around the office is on par with that.

But yeah, Titans fault. NRL has done all it can do make it an even playing field.

What does any of that have to do with the titans being unable to retain their only quality player?

SMH reports the Titans put their very best offer to Arrow - 1.8 million over 3 years.

Article then states they have paid Mlb teenage forward a 3 yr deal believed to be worth $2 million??

Would seem they weren't that keen to keep Arrow when reading those figures.

If that really was their best offer they body misread the market, their situation & the player concerned. Weird offer for a current Origin forward you could plan to build your club around. I'm not sure the figures are true. I thought I'd heard a higher offer.

Yes, my thoughts too. However, the Souths deal was not much more per year (meaning I would think they could have go a lot closer if they wanted to) although it is a 4 yr deal from Souths, not 3.

Looking at it that way, not sure if the Titans really had a crack. Maybe they are just drawing a line in the sand. No more stupid contracts for their players only to watch them phone it in. I don't place Arrow in that category though. Souths have paid some overs but they need a forward like him and had the cash.

A teenager poached from Kiwi rugby union could be the shock answer to Melbourne's centre problems next season.

Judda Turahui, 18, is training with the Storm's full-time squad and has impressed coach Craig Bellamy with his maturity and skills.

With the Storm losing Will Chambers (released), Solomone Kata (rugby union) and Curtis Scott (Raiders), the centres could prove a real problem.

But Turahui, who hails from Taranaki and attended the famous rugby union nursery Kings College in Auckland, could fill the void.

A fine all-round athlete, he broke records in both high jump and running at school but is now ready to step up to the big boys.

Wonder how committed he will be to the Gold Coast this year
No incentive whatsoever for the Titans to release him early. Do the rabbitohs think we want to do them additional favours on top of the handjobs Greenberg has given them and take their bad contracts (Gagai) off them in exchange for one of the best middles in the game?

Gagai for an Arrow early release is a laughable proposal. I’d rather see Arrow play for Burleigh or Tweed Heads for the year personally.

It sounds like Souffs are doing everything they can to bully the Titans into releasing Arrow a year early.

Their last option might be to send Joe Pesci around with a baseball bat.

As a Titans I'd be filthy if they released him for money (which surely should count under the cap!).

Seriously how would you feel as a Titans fan knowing your club was happy to flush your season down the toilet for cash?

Does any fan even care if their club got $500k that neither detracts from the other club's cap, or add to their own? Transfer fees are pointless in a salary cap league if it doesn't boost you're ability to go harder at a replacement. Fans want results only @Perth Red cares about the annual reports.

Maybe Souffs have the word from Toddy that a token "transfer fee" will make it all look sweet & fair. Even if its useless to the Titans, the NRL won't mind since it is less money they have to pump into the Titans themselves.
