It's official -

Good on the Roosters for giving him a shot.

He literally gave his guts to the Dragons. I was a bit disappointed he didn't get at least one more game in firsts. I know that they are re-building and need to invest in their future but they had Sloan in the team taking up a spot who has a pea heart. At some point Ramsey should have been given a run over him.

Sloan was the only backline player on the team that could score a try. The rest were plodders. How in earth did they make the first grade team when Ramsey was back healthy?

They put a line through Ramsey I guess.

I just assumed he was spent and they were letting him see out his final year. But his cup numbers were pretty good. Now has a new contract with the Roosters. They wouldn't touch him if they knew he was done.

They came 3rd last. Usually you try different options when you are losing. Someone with Ramsey's experience might have helped them this* year.

I don't think he was allowed to play NRL this year per the agreement of his contract and the dispensation Saints got from the NRL for keeping him on the books. He was not in the top 30 or the development list.

That would make a lot more sense.

Matt Dufty must have missed all the lessons when defence was being taught.
The Bulldogs discovered that this year. You need players with natural attacking ability. Warren Ryan used to get some of his weaker defensive players to practise defensive techniques in a sandpit with noted defender Michael Pobjie with success. But if a player has no idea in attack you find one that does.

Bulldogs have plenty of those players. But if your halfback just can't get players into the right positions no amount of attacking prowness is going to help. A good example is the Knights. Nearly every team would love Best in there team, but rarely can they put him in a position to do something with the ball.

No suprise that the best attacking teams have damn good halfbacks who open up the field for the skill players outside them.

What? Of course you can
Probably easier to teach attack.
You can run scenarios a thousand times at training until they are almost muscle memory - that Smith/Cronk/Slater outside-inside that used to carve teams up was at least as much practice as it was individual brilliance - as evidenced by the fact that often the final pass bypassed Slater and went to a hole running second rower.
Defence on the other hand relies on being able to predict and respond in concert with your team mates.

With the benefit of his off season sprint training I expect Lachie Galvin to lead the chase when his last tackle grubber goes dead.
