That depends on what the aim is. Are you supposed to be getting to a certain field position for the kick? Does it complement what you’re trying to achieve? Our attack is not structured to be a fast paced one like say a Melbourne. It's all about loads of pressure, and with new halves most likely next year, it will look a bit different with Galvin at 5/8th and Woods at halfback. It's not like there wasn't the odd dummy half run, but it's not something that the Bulldogs were doing a lot of.

Ciraldo has done a great job in a relatively short period of time and Gus the same in unravelling the mess of back ended contracts he inherited. But I just don’t get what they’ve done with Bailey Hayward. He was being introduced from the bench earlier in the year to play lock and was changing the momentum of matches in the Bulldogs’ favour. I thought this was great to watch. A coach who knew how to use his bench on the fly.

But then they basically nullified his effectiveness by turning him into a tackle bot at hooker. He’s an excellent side on defender but was getting bumped off a bit when defending front on towards the end of the season. Probably due the attrition of a long year .An interesting mix of six o’clock passes and spiral passes too from dummy half. An overall net loss for the team I thought.

At some point they realised we didn't have the players to win the comp, and were just making up the numbers. So he decided to get ahead of the game and start putting players in other roles to see how it all worked out.

As for Haywood, I'd think training as a hooker during the offseason will help his development heaps. Obviously that is what CC sees him as, and how that works with the gameplan he is trying to put on the field. Haywood won't overplay his hand, which is all he is asking.

Reed is a good hooker, but under CC's system not the right one. It's not like you can just buy one easy, and Reed struggled to adapt to what CC was asking him to do.

Proof will be in the pudding next year.

Oh well. Will have to turn my attention to the cricket. The dulcet tones of the sandpapergate mastermind Dave Warner. I hesitate to use mastermind and DaveWarner in the same sentence. Actually the only Dave Warner worth listening to is this one:

It's not always they want a hooker who will only give their halves good service, but who do not overplay their hand from dummy half. Many of my criticisms directed towards Robbie Farah, especially was that he overplayed his hand at dummy half and often starved his halves of the ball when they were in good attacking positions whilst playing for NSW.

Jake Friend, when he was hooker for the Roosters, was noted mainly for his defence. He learned when to run from dummy half, and when he had to go to one of his halves.

If you want one of the more famous quality hooker - halfback combinations, look at Andrew Johns and Danny Buderus. Johns got the ball when he demanded it, but it never precluded Buderus running from dummy half. It's about getting the balance right for your team. In fact, Andrew was upset with Lee Jackson, who was the Knights hooker for most of 1997, that he all but forced him out of the starting side for the 1997 Grand Final and Billy Peden started at hooker.
I'm sure I remember Joey blowing up deluxe at Lee Jackson for fluffing a pass along the ground to him

The Parramatta Eels can confirm that Zac Lomax has been granted an immediate release from his playing contract to pursue opportunities outside the NRL.

The Club would like to thank Zac for his contribution during his time with the Eels in 2025 and we wish him all the best for the future.

Why would the Eels release him?

So he he wouldn’t sulk on the wing, be dropped and they’d look like idiots for not releasing him now.

At a guess
