Congrats to Anthony Minichiello for becoming just the second player to score 100 tries for the tricolours. an amazing effort!!!

03/04/05 He was head and shoulders above the other fullbacks, but has battled constant injuries for the last few seasons. It's great to see him put the injuries behind him, have a good season and reach the 100 try mark.

Can only imagine what he'd be on without 3 seasons away from the game...

Top effort and hopefully he stays next year then takes the record

I'm kind of surprised that there have only been 2 players to break the 100 mark in a club with such a long history.

Cooper will be our second (sitting on 99) in just over a decade.

It's a great achievement though, there haven't been too many players in the games history to do it at one club.

I may have missed some, but Souths only have 3 according to that list (Nathan Merritt needs 6 more). Which also seems strangely low. So I'm guessing stats for further back players probably aren't accurate. For comparison.. Brisbane has 5.

Anyhow, Congrats Mini.

Congrats Mini, not only on hitting 100 tries, but on finding good form after such a long time disrupted.

In the olden days players had second jobs and retired a little earlier I would imagine given there wasn't so much money in the game to keep them. Secondly the seasons were much shorter..

Congrats to Mini. Awesome from 2000-2005, winning a grand final too.

All those games between 2003-2005 took its toll and it's been a pleasant surprise that he's been able to stay injury-free in 2010.

Souths have four

There have more tries scored in the 2000s than the first 44 seasons of the comp.

At his prime he was the best fullback since Brett Mullins so congratulations to Minichiello who has been a great player and person for the Roosters. He would have absolutely shat on Mullins' record had he not been injured so frequently in that bad period which is a shame because he really could have held one of those never to be broken records for the club.

Didn't he play over 100 conescutive games including rep footy? I don't think he missed a game he was available for in that time until that prick from Souffs buried him half way to China.

Thirdly, today we have a 10m defensive line (which is a big factor).

Fourthly, today the speed of the game is much faster due, due in part to the 6 tackle set (as opposed to the previous unlimited tackle rule).

There are a lot of reasons why there are more tries today than before!

I doubt it.. Look at SKD, only 22 and has scored 52 tries in 79 games. Give him another 8 years or so and whilst the strike rate will probably diminish you are looking possibly at 150 tries.

SKD's record is great. If we keep him for another five years or so and he stays injury free then he should pass whatever record Mini sets.

If he can stay injury free and reduce the SKD moments he will smash Mullin's record.
