Whittaker seemed to get it out quicker than Gregan (and I am not from NSW). He may not have played all that well in general play but his passing was a lot quicker. Look I am not saying for him to be dropped altogether but I would like someone else tried as the starting no9. Have Gregan on the bench by all means.

Oh?

One can only hope that Gregan is injured or run over by a car! That way his career will be over!:D

Don't want him dropped but wish he was injured so his career was over? :?

If he was injured it would FORCE them to make a change. I would have no problem with that. But I would have no problem with Gregan being in the world cup but I would give some other blokes a go first to get some youth into the side.

You're a strange bloke having no problem with someone getting injured but at the same time wanting that player in your squad.

You should truly change your name from lockyno1 to Sullyfan2.

There is a HUGE difference between wanting to have someone in your squad, and wanting to have somone in your starting halfback position! As for the name change, no thanks. If anything I would change it to haurieno1, but I won't just yet!

Gee, if it was me I still wouldn't want ANY of my squad run over by a car.

Then again, I don't wish that upon anyone. Call me old fashioned.

The car comment was probally uncalled for and I had had a few at a 21st party that day. I don't wish injuries happen normally. I just don't like the way Gregan plays. The inside balls to Dunning against 7 defenders is just dumb! That tells me we need a change at no9!

Did you see what other options he had at the time? Maybe there were none. You know the old saying "you can't score off every tackle"? Well it applies in rugby. I don't know what situation you're referring to, but maybe the other options were worse... maybe the backline was slow in getting set and George decided that another drive through the forwards would be the best option before spreading it... I don't know.

A halfback cannot be rated purely by the speed of his service. As has been easily pointed out here, the forwards dictate that and the way the Australian forwards were getting smashed is it any wonder the players looked ordinary? Whittaker looked alright because the opposition players were looking tired by the time he came on and weren't quite as dominant as they had been earlier in the match.

But don't let the fact that I've been telling you this for months stop you. You still advocate for a younger player, despite the fact that, like or not, the older, wiser, more experienced Gregan is still the best world cup option.

The other reason that I don't beleive Gregan should START, is that he basically NEVER runs the ball nowadays. The days of him running from the base of a ruck seem to be gone. Take that play out and a halfback is damn easy to read!

Ej Locky, how long have been watching rugby out of intrest? You seem to know little about it.
& wishing injury to player? Pretty low stuff mayng especially a player who will go down as one of the greatest.
& I thought New Zealanders suffered from way too much tall poppy syndrome.

I have watched rugby most of my life, probally since I was 8 yrs old or so. I am 21 now, so that is 14 yrs. One of the greatest, possibly, but not one of my greatest. There are quite a few no9's I rate ahead of Gregan.

I was against Gregan playing for Australia again a few months ago but now Whits is pi$$ing off I am not not so sure.

Valentine - No
Cordingley - No
Henjak - No (people rave about him but I have not seen him do much)
Sheenan - No

The only option besides Gregan I would consider is Gits, he is a former half and I believe he would excel in the position. Love to see him get some time there!!!! From memory he did get a game there against Romania in the 2003 world cup.

Hopefully Henjak or someone else kicks on, I am also keen to get a look at young Josh Holmes who is in the Tahs squad and is only 19.
