THE Tigers have been forced to suspend delicate negotiations to re-sign star players Robbie Farah and Benji Marshall until next year because of the holidays.
Neither player is available for negotiations until at least January 12 and further talks about new deals are on hold.
"Benji is away on a break after the World Cup and Robbie's manager is away as well," Tigers CEO Scott Longmuir said.
"We'll resume talks early in January when they are all available."
Retaining Farah and Marshall after their contracts finish next season is vital to the Tigers' long-term plans.
The club is still confident of retaining them despite interest from other teams, including a substantial offer from the Gold Coast Titans.
Delays in securing Farah and Marshall, which leaves them open to consider rival offers, adds to the pressure on the Tigers next season as they gamble on playing nine home games on inner-Sydney grounds.
Five will be at the SFS, one will be at the SCG, with another three at Leichhardt Oval.
There will only be three games at their joint-merger home area of Campbelltown.
Longmuir said the club was confident Tigers supporters in the west would be prepared to travel to the inner-city to see games. The deal is also worth around $100,000 a match at the SFS to the Tigers.
Meanwhile, Premiership rugby league players will give thanks this Christmas that one of their most requested wishes is coming true - Leichhardt Oval is being returfed.
