The NRL isn't set up for teams to be able to stockpile talent in a single position. Coote is a young player with buckets of talent, and a very good fullback in his own right, but Flash is one of the games elite fullbacks right now and best of all he's consistent. He comes off contract next year, and any club that is looking for an elite fullback with some cap space will be in for him. If we pay him what an elite fullback is worth and play him in his best position that leaves us with the problem of having no where to play Coote. If we keep him on the wing we're paying for a Ferrari when we only need a Toyota. Not to mention I'm sure both players would have a position they prefer playing, and fullback would be very high on the list.

I love both players, but unfortunately the only way I can really see us keeping them both in the medium term is if we pay overs or Coote makes a really good fist of 5/8.

Gus is a huge fan of Wade and with Carney joining the Sharks there isn't a lot of room for him there. I'd love for him to come back. Our best games in 2010 was when he was at five-eighth and Walsh at half.

Agreed. Given Coote is 7 years younger I dare say he's the higher priority to re-sign. The bidding war over Dugan proves teams are after a good fullback. I would think if about round 5 or 6 Gordon has got back to his best. The offers will come his way
