Cordoba and Oake

This may seem strange, but I was at the game on Saturday night with my son and his 2 boys and some other friends, paying close attention to the train wreck going on. But today I was talking to Stagger and I asked why Cordoba didn't play and he told me he was, then I thought about it and don't remember Oake being on the field.

Think I will need to watch the replay to confirm, but that is the first time that I have no recall of a couple of Parra players in a first grade game. I have been laughing at this, but perhaps it is a reflection of what went on. Gee they must have been ineffective.

You can give it to me, but this is a fact.:roll:

I've never ever rated Oake, i still cannot see what's the big deal with him, he is small, makes minimal metres hitting up and just another toiler who will never be a problem to contain for opposition forwards.

Cordoba? well i mentinod a while back that he's one bloke that if he doesn't improve ( like many) we should look too offloading, has gone backwards like most of our players, however he didn't have much to begin with anyway.

both those forwards with the addition of Weller,Lowrie and Brod need a massive off season.....you reckon we can borrow Ricky Stuart for 6 months???

They were on there. It was probably because we kept dropping the ball and all they did was defend the entire game. I find it hard to recognise players watching the games live as you're often sitting too far away to see their faces, or sitting at the wrong angle to see their numbers. They didn't play well... but when the starting side gets down 18 nil after 20 minutes I can't see how players coming off the bench are expected to dominate.

Gee, watching Des Hasler going off in the box on tv, and they are 20 in front.

WTF when we see Hagan, no wonder the players are soft in the head and in the belly, fire up

in fairness Oake made his first appearance off the bench very late in the game - I think it was around the 60 minute mark from memory. Either way though the point is well made.

And tbh, this has been one of the most frustrating parts of the season for me.
The attitude (or appearance of Hagan) on the box during the game, and the f**king press conferences of Laural and Hardy - Hagan and Cayless.

They say they care, but do they really???

Hasler's lot lost against the Rabbitohs a few weeks ago, and he put the whole team on notice!! They were leading the comp at the time.
If the same thing had happened here this season, Hagan would have said "we are almost there, where we want to be", and Cayless would have copped out with "we only have ourselves to blame".

I'm sooooooo over the mediocrity that this season has produced.

Take your pay cheques fellas and go and buy a f**king large mirror so you can all have a good hard long look at yourselves over the summer, and next year, come back, and be prepared to bleed for the blue and gold............or f**k off.

We have no-one of first grade standard to step up and take the 12 jersey next year, when Robbo, Wags and Riddell are all overseas.

11. Hindy
12. ???
13. Mateo

No-one that has had the chance this year or played from the bench has shown the skill or desire to make that jersey their own. I've no reason to think any of the candidates will do any different next year, when they had the chance this year - especially with Tim leaving and Mateo putting in half a season in the #6.

And this also astounds me.

There are a couple of blokes there, and we all know who they are, who could have put their hands up and made an impression.

The fact that this has completely failed to happen, is not only a reflection on the player's themselves, but on the coaching staff for failing to realise this potential.
Hauraki for one, has been a massive, massive let down.

Tell me about it Suity. Just one from about four possibles, and you wouldn't mind. You could even count front rowers showing they had what it takes, whic might enable Cayless to move back to the 12 next season. But no, there's nothing doing there either.

I am deeply worried about our pack next year. maybe if we follow through and pick up Ndaira he becomes an option at 13, and Mateo at 12? But we're clutching at straws....

I hope and pray that one of the younger players can really step up and take their opportunity both hands, Baumann or Lewis??? wishful thinking i know but we're really missing a firstgrade backrower..infact i'd go as far as saying that we should of releases bothOak and Weller and re-signed Chad.

Josh Cordoba has been one of the big disappointments IMO.

He really needs to start to step up. Great potential, we see it in patches. Need to see more of it.
