Sorry Crush...you should of stopped at Dufty "too small". Wing wont happen unfortunately these days it will prove too costly in the boring back 3 hit ups and metre eaters and the bombs to his wing.
See outside Periera we have not 1 back that can eat up yards out of the backfield except for Aitken. But if he is dropped for Lomax..well it wont work. In fact even if Dufty is not at a winger...who will do the backfield work? Lafai, Lomax, Widdop, Norman..nah!. We are in a bit of bother there and the focus the coach should be talking about insteag of gloating over depth in spine position is the flanks.
I get the comparison to Slippery but Dufty does not run straight. Slippery did and it is a total different gane now. Forwards let the backs do some of the hard work then get a 20 minute breather. The ball is lighter and gets kicked further etc.
Slippery was a hard runner and a tough little bugger

haven't been told about the quality of his training but have been told he is training solely at first receiver calling the shots and doing the kicking . Widdop is training at fullback .
That sounds like he is training to play halfback. Excellent. I expect him to be wearing the number 6 jersey.

Widdop at fullback will be able to play the extra 5/8 role better than Dufty, but I doubt he will provide the X factor that Dufty does.

Sounds like Dufty will be starting the year off in ISP. I won't be surprised to see him sign with another club.

even if Dufter cracks the shits and Millenials out on us whimp style ( and if youre reading Duff man I DONT think you will, I have faith in you to MAN up , have a little patience and do what all players with a modicum of loyalty to their club and badge and fans have done since Jesus played halfback for Jerusalem and stick it out, youre time WILL come and you WILL star here so be in no rush! as IF youd want to win a GF with another club!! gross!) Field will be there to nab his spot for next season.....Field is equal to Duffman Im sure Duff wouldnt like to see that even in 2020!

Geez...sounds like a lot of confidence in our 2018 6 & 7 who paid roughly 1.8mill combined or moreso Ben Hunt who Mary and rrecruitment swore will always be our knight in shining armour and the man we were missing to be the team we need and solve Mary's puzzle! Could Mary and recruitment been wrong?.
.oh well we will try something else.

You are correct om 1 thing. Moving forward for 2020 it is Dufty or Field. 1 has to go by the end of this year. On what I have seen watching both grades it would have to be Field as Dufty is a slight superior attacker through broken play turning defenders inside and out. Defense marginal..cant split em, high ball & positioning Field. It is close ATM but that is the way I would lean. 2019 will put it to bed and it will be who wants it most or both may be gobe.
But the other thing is Dufty will be loyal if money is reasonably close to other offers or market. Dufty will leave only if the Dragons dont come close to market or simply they dont want him. That is not manager speak either.
I am getting in early in case the spin doctors use the "it was an opportunity for him we simply could not match", "we wanted to keep him but"....or...no... they cant use the "compassionate grounds" card in this case.

Nice post
We not only invested the money in them but also an entire year and it is possibly going to be scrapped because 1 player is leaving, not now but in a years time.
So obviously Mc Fookknuckle doesn't believe in his own rhetoric from last year in that he had the squad he always wanted & we were really unlucky we didn't go further.
If we didn't buy Norman there was never a chance Widdop was going to play FB so Mc Fookknuckle obviously believes Norman is a better 6 than Widdop which is just fanciful on recent performances.
If Widdop does play FB and doesn't go well where to from there?

In all fairness, the blame should really lay at the feet of Mary. His unwillingness to learn from previous years and stubbornly repeat actions that have failed, is the major reason for our failure.

Fatigue in our pack caused our halves who were so dominant in the first half of the season to falter under the circumstance where there was no platform set and no room to move. When fatigue set in, our forwards began to be dominated by the opposition and so, our halves and backline had no answer.

All could have been avoided with a clever rotation policy, appropriate rest for our SOO participants and bench management that mitigated exhaustion and facilitated first grade experience for our fringe forwards. Mary's idea of giving our already over-worked backrowers the extra duty of covering for the middle defence and attack proved to be a leap too far when it came to fatigue.

With his contract on the line this season, let's hope that Mary and his coaching staff have learnt from their mistakes and devise a more suitable program for the 2019 season.

Where to?. Mary looks at early retirement.
But if you read the Illawarra Mercury article recently. Mary has said "this year we are ready as last year we were just very close to having it right" or something similar.
The problem with Mary is he always used the glass half full method in defending himself and focusses on the glass being half full telling all that matter... so we should be satisfied.
I point out the empty section. We were 1 win out of a Top 4!..no Mary, Our F & A fell so low that 1 more win may have not been enough to make the Top 4. We may have needed to win 2 games. We were 1st 2/3rds of the way into the comp. Falling out of The Top 4 by so much was a failure!
And we are supposed to believe that the club is experienced and ready to handle the origin and player rep drain. And now we are more big game battle hardened.
I though I heard that the previous year..anyway.

The fall from grace last season is something no sensible management would tolerate.Hence we are being run by idiots

field runs through the line whereas dufty runs around it - i think long term field is better prospect but can't carry 2 featherweights
