Ben Ross has signed a 2 year deal with the Brisbane Broncos Rugby League team for an estimated $650, 000 after a "get out" clause was found in a contract he had recently signed with rival club, the Cronulla Sharks.
Brisbane mentor, Wayne Bennet said of the signing "it will help us deal witht the loss of Shane [Webcke]. He's played front row with Petro [Civoniceva] in State of Origin in the past so they are pretty familiar with eachother".
"It won't be the same as this year, but I'm really looking forward to the challenge of playing with a new partner" prop Petro Civoniceva commented. "Ben's a great guy and I'm excited about playing with him more regularly"
The completion of this signing is one of many big signing this year including rep players like Anasta, Harrison, Lolesi, Campbell and Jones.
The good news continues for the Brisbane club with news that Darren Lockyer could return as early as round 26 for the blockbuster against the Parramatta Eels when it was originally expected that he wouldn't see any more football until the finals.
"I'm just resting it and getting a lot of time in the hyperbolic chamber" captain Darren Lockyer said. "Hopefully we can get the minor premiership secured in the next couple of weeks and can rest in round 26 instead of risking an early return"
