Couple of crazy dividends on Greyhound First 4's

So here i am having a modest punt on some greyhounds last night, not having much luck and only had $40.00 to play with.

Thought i would have a go at a couple of exotics (first 4's) on a meadows greyhound race and a wentworth park greyhound race (i couldn't seem to pick a winner, 2nds and 3rds, always a roughy getting in.)

Next thing i know i have a simple box FF on for a lousy 13.88%, i get all my greys in i needed, nothing paying over double figues and the first 4 pays $6060.00??? = lazy $585.69.

Very next race (or before can't remember) same thing again but this time a lousy 4.16%, can't remember what the FF paid but i got 252.51 back, one again no double figures in the odds????

Does anybody know why? Not that i am complaining but it seemed such a jump when the trifecta was like $350 and fourth was the favourite. (i'm talking about the $6060 one)

Anyways it was a easy $850 or so off two bets in a row.

Thought i would share my story.

Now and then you get some real strange ones at the dogs.
About twelve months ago I got the Daily Double at Mandurah or Cannington.
The first leg paid $3.25 the second leg $4.50.
I expected around $15 but got back $225.
I put that down to the low pools late at night. I've been watching those first 4's.
Seems to me if you get a trifecta around $100 the first 4 will pay between $500 and a thousand.Unless of course an odds on one gets in or a real roughy.
Get 1 roughy in and the first 4's blow the trifecta dividends away.
Then again I've seen exactas pay more than trifectas, quinellas more than exacts(happens a real lot) and even trifectas pay more than first fours. Its the old supply and demand rule and the chances of strange dividends seem to be happening a lot more in smaller pools.

Have a look at a couple of the place dividends in the first at NZ Dogs today.
Winner paid $5.70 a win $7.60 a place.
2nd $16.90 (was paying $9.90 a win)
3rd $23.10 (was paying $9.80 a win)

There was a race last week at the dogs....
Daily Double...
First leg paid $1.50 Second leg was abandoned.
Double paid $16. tell me how that makes sense......

Yep, very good!
Imagine going to check your ticket the next day and you get $16 8 times, times whatever your stake is!
