Coverage of NFL on ESPN

I don't know how many of you have this channel on your pay TV, but basically their coverage sux.....!!!!

I was watching the replay of the Jets/Redskins game on Friday night, and I was amazed that their was no attempt to edit the stoppages in the game the way that Fox does on their replays.

They show the same number and amount of ads whether the game is live or not.... also the ads that they have are basically the same 3 ads promoting their upcoming shows which they repeat over and over ( the most annoying ad is their soccer show with the bald Irish guy ...).

Also... they edit out chunks of the game, instead of trying to cut down of their ads!!!

Look - I am such a huge fan that I'll accept it, but considering that we are all paying our hard earned to watch this, ( and I assure you that the only reason I have ESPN is to watch the NFL), I think we all deserve a better deal!!!

Any Comments???

I havent got ESPN so i cant comment, I have always preferred FOX because it cut out the delays between plays in delayed games.

Yeah your right the ESPN coverage isn't great,im like you and i only have ESNP for the NFL the only good thing is the fact it has the shows like Monday Night Countdown and things like that.
But the Fox coverage is really so much better.

It really is sub standard coverage except for Monday Night Football (which I love) especially now that John Madden is doing the colour commentary.

I like the way Al Michaels calls the game and John puts everything into basic English and usually has a few amusing anecdotes about each player.

In less than two weeks the Broncos and Raiders go head to head once again on MNF.

Might be a good day for a sickie. :D

p.s bring back Dan Dierdorff. He was great.

Frank Gifford was crap but no women on the sidelines please!!!!!!

I have seen a few games being advertised for viewing on fox. But looking at the times they would have to be replays.

The Broncos are never on Fox. Bloody NFC and Fox agreement has all the AFC teams out in the cold.

Legend - your right about the deal that Fox has with the NFL which is essentially the right to the NFC games.

CBS in the US has the rights to the AFC games.

However when an AFC team plays an NFC team at home, Fox has the rights to show these games, so you will probably see the Broncos on Fox at least once this year.

I looked in the Foxtel guide, and I know that in Week 4 they are showing Buffalo ( AFC Team) vs Philadelphia ( NFC Team).

Whilst this is better than nothing, I think its a shame that on Fox you can never see what I consider to be the big games - versus divisional rivals.
Being a Bills fan, their biggest games of the year are versus Miami and New England. Unless their playing on Sunday or Monday night, I have no chance of seeing these match ups in Australia.

I'm sure that you being a Broncos fan, you would love to see them against their division rivals Oakland and Kansas City more often too.....

I always tape the games on espn when they show them live. I Just fast forward the annoying stoppages. Normally watch a game in 1.5-2hrs after getting home from work.

Being a dolphins fan I used listen to the games on the internet radio broadcasts. Now the nfl is charging $35US for the privilidge.

I think im the man to solve your problems Eelectrica. I too couldnt believe the bloody charge for listening to a game on the internet and went about searching for a way around it, and found it

http://www.radio-locator.com/

Instead of going through the NFL site to listen, go to that link above, here's what you do:

1)go to the site
2)In the find internet streaming radio pulldown menu choose sports then click go
3)Then of the list of radio stations that comes up, choose a station that is from the state of either your team (florida for you) or if there isnt one from that, choose a radio station from the other teams region.
4)When you've found the station you are after (there is often several that are broadcasting each game, occasionally there is none but this is rare), click the little lightning icon to the left of that stations name

And tada! You have got yourself free NFL commentary.
