This club wont move from where they are at the moment. After going to one of their home games, it's obvious that it's a case of following the game before the club. All though not nessisarily a bad thing, it is this attitude that will keep them at the botom.
In Townsville, they get good crowds, but hardly anyone is in team colours. The locals are willing to give it to a losing opposition supporter (rare) upon leaving the ground, yet it's hard to take anyone serious on Footy matters when they don't show any team colours. A lack of supporter wear is a sure sign that the people at the ground don't really care to much about the team. If the NRL schedualed 12 games for Townsville, and chopped the Cowboys, I doubt you'd see much difference.
The lack of real support will hold them back. Instead of worrying about entertainment (At least 10 unrelated mascots took the field including Ergon Energy Man, a Wolf in a Cowboys Jersey, a tortise, a piece of sliced bread, some Wombat like creature and many other forgetable mascots). Having more kids on the field then at the Grand Final entertainment and bringing up that little Brat who sang at the Olympics you wonder what the main focus is.
They have the juniors, the potential to exceed the sort of reputation Newcastle has yet this potential looks like it will never be met.
I see the Storm as having huge potential and them partly on the way to reaching it, yet this team in a Rugby League strong hold looks set to fight out many more battles for the Wooden Spoon.
