After the start we have had we are certainly in there with a chance.
By losing those games the damage is already done. You won't get those four competition points back.Lost a few games by the slimmest of margins, beat a premiership heavyweight.
I can’t see the point in entertaining the idea of the spoon at this point, if that becomes a reality down the track then deal with that then, atm it’s not a thought.
Mate it’s round 4, the reason I have referenced the close nature of the losses is to show that we aren’t playing that badly and should win plenty of games this year. If we’d have lost each game by 20+ then I might be asking where will the wins come from.By losing those games the damage is already done. You won't get those four competition points back.
It really doesn't matter how much we lost by - we should have won. We are full strength and they are not. There's nothing commendable about letting games slip through out hands.
We don't necessarily need to play better at least as much as we have to play longer. Either that's fitness, mentality or both.Mate it’s round 4, the reason I have referenced the close nature of the losses is to show that we aren’t playing that badly and should win plenty of games this year. I feel you are getting pretty worked up.
Bumping the wooden spoon thread after 4 weeks, premature discussion IMO but hey it’s a forum and here we are discussing it so play on I guess.
And smarter. The injection of Cook and Holmes makes your team look so much more professional but mistakes and those 1%'s are cruelling you and my tigers. We don't necessarily need to play better at least as much as we have to play longer. Either that's fitness, mentality or both.
For all their hard work they shouldn't be that low on the ladder.
Teams with better squads will start hitting their strides soon. It was the same when we were April premiers under Mary on numerous occasions, same last year, same under Hook (remember covid). We don't generally finish strong. Vital points down the drain. No one wants the spoon. It's a possibility. The players need to be more hungry for wins.
There's still what, 21 rounds to play yet, so the talk of wooden spoon is more than premature.
If it were the case then the teams currently below us, and yes I'm talking about Penrith and the Roosters, should be in that conversation also.
We have lost 3 games by 8, 1 & 1, hardly results that indicate a sinking ship, and in 2 of those games, we led by 12 (we all know this) and even the game against the Dogs, we have injuries that would have in the past allowed a cricket score against us.
Now, our issues are clear, imo.
1. We don't have an experienced closer of a game. Ilias and Kf, aren't the dominant roll types that will take the game by the scruff of the neck.
2. We are still stop and prop in defense. Ie we still wait for the ball runner to come to us. Evident yesterday in that golden point episode, which allowed Parra easy metres down field. Are we spooked by the headshot crackdown to go in aggressively?
3. The form of a couple of players is concerning me no end. Firstly, Sloan. He's still so timid in his runs back and carrying the ball. Time to give Finau a chance imo. The second is Leilua. A big man playing so soft, especially in attack. Tackled easily. Bought to ground easily. His stats yesterday were atrocious against less experienced players.
So, in saying this, my spoon favourites are still Parra, Titans and Tigers.
It's good to read some sensible quotes amid all the gloom and doom.Mate it’s round 4, the reason I have referenced the close nature of the losses is to show that we aren’t playing that badly and should win plenty of games this year.
