Cowboys cannot make Top 4

So much this. And has nothing to do with him moving on to another club either, he is the modern day Dane Carlaw. He was half decent in 2012 and showed sweet FA after it. Only got an origin gig because Ricky was bribing the pants off him to come down to Parra. If he used his size for a change instead of turning his body when making a hit up he would be awesome, he can't rely on hiding behind the hit ups of Lolo and Thumper Scott these days.
Can't argue with any of that. He does defend pretty well but that's obviously not enough with the cash he's on

Yep

has flashes where you can see his potential but flatters to deceive

that turning his back when he gets to the line thing bugged me for the last couple of seasons

not sorry to see him go at all

Meanwhile over at Souths forum we have 2 perennial whingers already put a line through us for 2017/18.. depending on the result v panthers next week, 2019 could be all but done too
Even with the worst front row crises that I can think of in recent times we still don't have jason clarke starting

The five I think are in the mix for the top 4 are melb, bris, canb, penr, and Cron. Penrith are more chance than cows imo because of Tamou moving clubs and the Panthers Cubs maturing

I don't know how anyone can be confident of any team finishing in the top 4 this year except for Melbourne.

I would like to know what you have seen from the other 4 teams you mentioned that makes you so confident. Brisbane have been bog average, the sharks look a shadow of themselves from last year, Penrith have failed in the 2 games they have played against decent opppsition and canberra are living off last year's form IMO and have been far from impressive.

On paper it is likely that at least one of those teams will make it but after 5 weeks of the competition it is wide open with Newcastle and wests the only teams at this stage that I can put a strike through with confidence although it is arguable that the Knights have been the 2nd best performed team this year given their roster.

I agree.

Storm are definitely the only team that look like they are quite likely to make the top 4, and they play a great, defensive style that can grind them through finals, but I still think they lack x factor (and have for years) so in the finals they are not particularly more likely to win than a good team on a roll at the end of the season.

And there are about 11 teams that all look about as good as each other from positions 2 to 13, with only really Knights, Tigers and Souths to me not likely to make the 8 (and even then, I'd not be shocked if any of them made it).

There is a long way to go, and any team that makes the 8 probably has enough class compared to the others to win it. Seems a very open comp to me at the moment.

I reckon the roosters will be there

I can't see a weakness in their team

(Yes I know they lost this weak)

Their weakness is that they can't play more than about 50 minutes of football. That may come with time, or it may end up costing them dearly. For me, Melbourne are the only "certainty" to make the top 4. Outside of them, i believe the only the Cows, Roosters, Sea Eagles (i know), Raiders, Sharks could make the top 4. Who those final teams end up being will probably come down to a combination of luck, injuries and momentum.

I can remember some classic Manly predictions from you. Nobody would take anything you say serious. It is clouded with bias and hatred.

With a healthy pinch of stupidity.

Its funny that of all the teams mentioned, the Bronco's are the ones with the most issues.

What is your obsession with the Broncos? You're in every Broncos thread declaring they're shit and overrated and even mentioning them in threads not about them. Get a life.

Settle princess.

The bloke who started the thread is a Broncos supporter declaring the reasons other teams can't make the top 4 when they have more issues than the clubs he is potting.

I'll have whatever opinion I want on the Bronco's. If you don't like it, ignore me.

Its OK - lots of people hate your shitty club. You don't need validation from others.

better off asking the OP why he thinks the Broncos, of all teams currently outside the 8, are a chance for top 4

Totally agreed mate. I get that the panthers need an old hard head to lead the way for the younger guys in the squad on and off the field, but Tamou is not the guy IMO especially at the reported price.

You would think last night would be the game where he would step up and show the club why they brought him down. He looked disinterested and lethargic the whole time he was on the field. He made a total of 86m for the entire game. If Penrith really wanted one of our NQ front rowers they would have been better off having a crack at Scotty Bolton who would be on a fraction of the wage easter island head is.....

Even though they won tonight, they will lose some without Matt Scott, especially at origin time. Their depth is weaker this year. Even this early in the year, I believe there are only 5 fighting for the top 4 and another 5 a chance of a top 8 finish. I am writing off souths, Knights, warriors, tigers (who have the talent but the big 4 egos will tear the team apart), bulldogs, and Parra (way too dependant on c.norman).

Yeah not sure how Cowboys will cope without Matt Scott during Origin. Cowboys have been blessed that he rarely got an Origin call up this last decade.

They play every origin period with him either backing up or missing. This season their forward depth is weaker, imo.
