Cowboys game

Agree with everything you say. Steve Price coaches like he plays, boring, ineffective and nobody will remember him or the 2012/3/4 Dragons squad in 5 years time. He's done 30 odd players and hundreds of thousands of fans a diservice by not falling on his sword.

The refereeing in the first half was awful though. Knock on called against Dugan that was off the Cowboys, lead to a try that was called a no try followed immediately by a knock on missed off the Cowboys on their line which was followed by a try being taken away from us that was borderline. We all saw Thurston's pass to Greenshields go unchecked. My wife knows almost nothing about rugby but even she called them on rubbish calls we were getting.

I have to say, that Thurston pass to greenfield or whoever it was was absolutely comical...only because the referees SOMEHOW didn't see it. What is it with referees? Touch judges are always too scared to even make decisions, whereas on-field referees often can't think for themselves. So we have this massive dilemma where both sets of referees don't want to do anything.

This new Video ref system might be looking good, and it does have it's positives, but I have a major problem with it. IMO, there's been far more referrals to the video ref this year. Way too many. This new system where on field referees need to have an opinion on the try situation is meant to grant more independence and authority to referees. But it actually isn't. Referees are now in a win-win situation where they feel they can look good for making a decision on a try/no-try while still getting the help of the video referee. They used to look clueless because they'd just solely rely on the video referee. But when they state their own opinion, they could be just giving a random guess. That original verdict to the cowboys' obstruction no-try was a good example of this. It was clear that there was no obstruction, yet the on-field ref had no idea, and his verdict reflected that. But he still looks a lot better than he would have last year because he gave an opinion on it. That's my reason why every friggin try this year goes upstairs.

Ummm, hate to break it to you, You don't have a better roster then Penrith, other then Morris and arguably Dugan, the rest of your team would not start at Penrith.

Who the friggen hell do Penrith have apart from Tim Grant? At best, your squad is on par with ours. Your team has no superstars. Arguably Dugan? He is the incumbent NSW fullback for Christ's sake. Who the hell in Penrith is better than Dugan?

Agreed, I wouldn't be surprised if 8 or 9 tries out of 10 go upstairs now. I like the idea but there is still a lack of consistency from week to week and it really feels that we have been getting the rough end of the stick for about 5 weeks in a row now. Thinking of the Penrith game and the first try in the Bulldogs match and even one taken off Dugan v the Eels that was no different to that tonight. Technically both those first half calls that I referred to were right but if says check the onside then he should just check the onside and get on with the game. Theres no accountability for on field refs anymore.

Exactly, these new vid ref rules are meant to give more accountability, but they're actually taking away accountability in a sense. A referee is now able to escape criticism just because he gave a verdict, whether it was a guess or not. The new system is a big fluffy cushion for them to fall back on. It does have its pros, but these cons have been overlooked by everyone.

F ing terrible.

How about we get some luck for once??? Would love to see some stats on vid ref decisions against us. When we score and it goes upstairs nearly always a no try, when its one against us always a try.
How that obstruction one was awarded is beyond me. If the refs said try, I would have copped it, but they said no try. Where was the f ing overturning evidence??????

No excuse for not scoring with all that ball at the end but.
Teams make their own luck. The video ref made all the right decisions too.

We're just a poorly coached side relying on luck to snag a win.

If you have a winger even close to the guts and ability of Nightingale you should give him a game , because I have'nt seen him.. Btw you're secret weapon is Nigel Plum a player you're letting go and "THE player". Dudley of the royal Crownies should be signing . I know he's old but he hits like a brick shithouse in defence . Legal mogrel with a capital M.

Back on the actual game, at end of the day the same ill discipline and stupid errors cost us.
That loss is huge in context of our season. The 2 points just doesn't seem to be valued the way it should be by the team.

We dramatically lack any spark in the centres. If cooper comes back that won't help much either. We need some go to men.

I think all the Green bashing is a bit harsh. The kid has potential and if he had a decent halves combination inside him getting him quality ball he would be going better.
I would stick with him at the moment there is no better option.

Matt Moylan.

Hayne is the incumbent fullback.

Penrith just re-signed the Plum and Adam Docker, two biggest hitters in the game!

EXACTLY!!!!!!

We are not smart enough to realise 2 points last week, 2 points last night + the bye would have been a nice roll-on, instead it's the usual hiccups, splutter, stop/go scenario.........i really don't know what team bothers to show up each week. I reckon we played ok for 15mins all up last night. COWBOYS had 2nd worst For/Against - we made them look like the melbourne STORM, as a result of our water-pistol attack...............

BTW-Forget Cooper...he can''t help us know.....

After Thurston's deliberate forward pass to player in front of him in an off-side position, we should of let the the cows score to have the decisiom sent up to the video refs.

Then they would go back to thurstons pass and, and, and...probably awarded the try because the lot of them have no f**k_n clue !!!!!

Absolutely! The forwards tend to roll forward nicely but if they had a terrible hooker it likely would be the case. Same with the outside backs with halves that are f**king terrible!

Matt Moylan.

Hayne is the incumbent fullback.

Sorry mate, but I have no f***ing clue who Matt Moylan is, unless you're talking about that half who has had ONE game, or you are trolling! If you want to start labelling juniors with one game experience as stand out players, then Kyle Stanley is a superstar. If Hayne is injured, Dugan is the incumbent fullback, that's what I meant.

I can't believe more people aren't pointing a finger at Rein. He has been hopeless of late. He's like an old man bending down to get the ball, he cant pass and when he does throw a decent looking pass its like hes playing a game seeing how close to a forward he can throw without it being called. In those multiple repeat sets late in the second half there were about ten passes he threw where I thought it was going to be called forward or it was a hospital flat pass to a forward about to be smashed. He's developed two pet plays recently. One where he waits for weyman to run in front of him then passes to him, the other where he slowly fakes to go one way then turns with the turning circle of a small yacht before passing the other way and having the marker nearly knock the ball out of his hands. Its time to make King the number 1 choice and either cook (who played well when given the chance) or garvey the bench rotation player. People need to realise that just because Rein seems tough and hard working does not make him a good player. Particularly at hooker in a side with ZERO creativity. Sorry for the rant but its been eating at me.
