Bulldog Ritchie stated on the 2KY sports show this morning [Sunday] that the Cowboys are very keen on Lui. He said the Cowboys see him as a great player in the future. He will be the halfback with Thurston moving to five eight. He originally came from Nth QLD so will probably like to go home.

I'd say the Tigers have the same view. I think Lui is signed for another two seasons? I can't see the Tigers agreeing to a release.

Why would we want Lui? We've already got Ray Thompson. Sure, Lui is a lot more dangerous in attack, but when Thompson gets involved his touches are quality and he is probably the best halves defender in the NRL. I've heard this rumour a few times and have yet to see or hear a quote from anyone at the Tigers or Cowboys on the matter.

It's probably a quiet newsday and some two-bit journo decided that because Lui is from North QLD, the Cowboys suddenly want to sign him.

Hang on, how can the Cowboys be after Lui, he is the worst player in history according to some?

IMO Lui will end up a far better player then Ray Thompson. Thompson can tackle but he is one dimensional in attack.

There's no doubt Lui is streets ahead of Thompson at the moment. But Thompson has shown plenty of quality touches - he just doesn't get as involved as he should.

Still this is his first full season in first grade, coming off 2 years of ongoing injuries. I think this time next season will be a better indicator of where Lui and Thompson stand.

Lui can't tackle right now but he is streets ahead of Thompson with ball in hand. Thompson is a fine example of the lack of talent there is in young halves at the moment. He is the definition of average.

If Lui learns to tackle and gets some consistency in attack he could be good however he has had a long period of shockers this year.

Who knows how he will turn out.

I also wonder where this news of the Cowboys being after him is from. It could be another rumour with no basis in fact.

Lui will end up a no9 down the track, chunky little bugger. You will find his defense will improve, I think its more that he switches off in concentration a bit rather than technique. Iam happy for him to stay at the Tigers, but not many of my mates agree

Thompson can defend but lui has brilliance and you can only coach one of those - So Lui is the obvious choice and I can't see the Tigers letting him go
