Cowboys vs Manly

Cowboys 20
Eagles 24

The cowboys were tipped to have a brilliant year and reach the top 4. I am having a terrible round in the tipping, just 2 from 4 so far. At least the knights brought me a win.

Yeah I was shocked when I read about this result on nrl.com...

I haven't read any of the match reports yet, bu this result could mean one of two things.

Firstly it could mean that Manly have a great team this year and are going to be contenders, or;

Secondly, it could simply mean that the Cowboys had a shocker of a game ad just blew it.

I'm leaning towards the second possibility, because of the trial result between them and the Knights a fortnight ago. They managed to restrict the Knights to 12 points in Mackay, and only just losing by 2. They're definately a quality team this year.

Don't worry, I've only gotten 2 out of 4 so far as well!!

I'm 3 from 4. Got Manly-Cowboys wrong.

I don't think either side will make the 8, and thought it would be a very close game. Shame wrong side won, and if Hicks could kick it would have been by a lot more. I tipped Cowboys because of the home ground

I was cheering for the Cowboys to score at the end as I had in 'Pick the Result' Cowboys by 1,2,4,6,7.

Manly have a good forward pack

Props - King & Donnelly - Both great young players
Hooker - Randall - Another good young player
Lock - Menzies - Not as good as he used to be, but still a fine player.
2nd Row - Haumono & Hopoate - Both solid players

Have a fantastic halfback in Michael Monaghan and a fantastic fullback in Andrew Walker. The centres & wingers aren't bad either. Only their 5/8 in Luke Williamson is fairly average. They shouldn't have axed Ben Walker.

I wouldn't be surprised if they made the 8, but don't think they will.

I have 4/4... I thought I tipped the Cowboys, but I checked I had tipped Manly... They always seem to win when Fatty doesn't tip them.

Which is not very often - perhaps an indication of how good the Manly side is. ;-)

It strikes me as strange that Fatty didn't tip them - he generally even tips them against the Roosters or any team for that matter.

My only suggestion: the Footy Show's new SMS tipping system where you can just ask for one panelist's tips for the week. Perhaps he's been told to start tipping the sides he actually thinks will win?

I have Brissie and I think Sts and the Roosters.
I just checked my tips and I didn't tip Sts... I tipped canberra. *fingers crossed* this is the best I've done for a good while... and for the first time I'm in the top 10

Probably because he's not on their board anymore.

You think that is the reason? A form of tipster smiting? Is he giving the board the message that they cannot win without him in the fold?

Manly were my pre-season favourites.....for the wooden spoon. I'm not changing my tip, but perhaps this is a sign that they're out to prove their knockers to be incorrect.
