Gower was more impressive than I thought he'd be. A couple of clever kicks, very reminiscent of a league half back, and some solid defence when they ran at him. Poor defence when decisions were required and a diabolical long kicking game were major weaknesses, along with the garbage service he got from both half backs.
The Italian forwards were impressive. Big, mobile & agressive. Their backs were awful. If the Wallabies weren't so intent on sticking to a game plan to practice for the upcoming tests then we might have seen a lot more tries out wide.
Gower was hardly a laughing stock. Then again, as an ex-Kangaroo, quality should be expected.
