Dragons skipper Ben Creagh says his side must rediscover lost belief to be any chance of making a belated finals charge under new caretaker coach Paul McGregor.
The Dragons sit 13th on the ladder with one win from their past seven games, including drubbings by the Bulldogs and Eels.
Creagh admitted that the past month had seen his side's confidence plummet.
"We've been down on confidence and down on belief and that's a big thing in this game," he said.
"You can see the teams that are flying high and winning most weeks are getting that confidence and over that past six or seven weeks we haven't had that and we've been slowly going downhill.
"It's a bit of a domino effect and it's affected us, but we've got to find a way out of it. We have the team that can do it; we've just got to find that confidence and belief again."
Creagh insisted his side hasn't given up hope of sneaking into the finals.
"We're sitting on 10 points right now which is not ideal but we've still got six or seven home games to go and I know what this team's capable of," he said.
"We've got a lot of work to do to to get back to how we were playing at the start of the season.
"We're better than what we've tossed up in the past couple of weeks and hopefully we start performing better than we have done and win a lot more than we lose."

One set of six can turn a team on. Just get to change what price had us doing and get some good back ups, maybe a tackle break and a good bounce. It can happen and I'm quietly optimistic something better than average will happen. Creagh is blah blah blah but he is right; we do have the playing group including the big carrot top.

Hopefully stop playing Price style off the cuff footy and put proper structures into our attack and defense....

I remember one of our first games under Price and seeing Jamie Soward kick for his outside men on the first tackle. I remember scratching my head and thinking to myself "oh dear".......I remember hearing Price say that he had wanted to add his touches to the team on top of what Bennett did and to see that play was a big worry as to the mindset of the coach straight away in my mind, we were not willing to put pressure on and play the successful grind/patience game we had under Bennett.

Under Bennett we had a strong defensive line. every player new his role and they performed accordingly. How can we go from the best defensive team to one of the worst. Our forwards are letting the backline down. We need to stiffen the pack and have more mongrel. Too much yardage made right up our centre every match

MacGregor seems to be talking up Price and wanting to continue what Price has started this year. There is no way they will gain any confidence and win games if they keep playing the same but MacGregor doesn't seem to see what everyone else does.

Mary seems to be a Price clone which is a concern in itself never mind Creaghs Priceisms.
Creagh says that we have 6 home games to play but how many of these are at ANZ? with no advantage.

Will take quite a while to get rid of the stink of failure that was Price but as long as Mr Doust keeps his job f**king the club royally not much will change.
