Dragons skipper Ben Creagh says his side must rediscover lost belief to be any chance of making a belated finals charge under new caretaker coach Paul McGregor.
The Dragons sit 13th on the ladder with one win from their past seven games, including drubbings by the Bulldogs and Eels.
Creagh admitted that the past month had seen his side's confidence plummet.
"We've been down on confidence and down on belief and that's a big thing in this game," he said.
"You can see the teams that are flying high and winning most weeks are getting that confidence and over that past six or seven weeks we haven't had that and we've been slowly going downhill.
"It's a bit of a domino effect and it's affected us, but we've got to find a way out of it. We have the team that can do it; we've just got to find that confidence and belief again."
Creagh insisted his side hasn't given up hope of sneaking into the finals.
"We're sitting on 10 points right now which is not ideal but we've still got six or seven home games to go and I know what this team's capable of," he said.
"We've got a lot of work to do to to get back to how we were playing at the start of the season.
"We're better than what we've tossed up in the past couple of weeks and hopefully we start performing better than we have done and win a lot more than we lose."
