BomberI have business interests in Newcastle. 3 years ago the sales wold be down if the Knights were on TV or playing at home. These days sales are unaffected by the Knights. They are losing ground and to my surprise they are losing that ground to Rugby. This is league heartland and it is in trouble. Not wishful thinking, just cold hard fact.

What on bloody earth are you talking about???

You're saying that in the past Union tests in Sydney would get smaller crowds if the Knights were playing in Newcastle?

You are clinically insane!

btw, the Knights crowd average in 2005 is one of the highest in the League, and that's with LOSING EVERY SINGLE GAME THIS YEAR. How exactly are they losing ground?

8,609 is the official crowd.
The weather was crap, most people leave Canberra for the long weekend also.

It wasn't fun at all sitting in the dark getting rained on this time of year in Canberra. The cheerleaders looked a bit cold also... poor things.

We need more rain protecton at the stadium here.... although it probably doesn't rain enough to justify the cost.

RU needs to catch up to soccer before it even considers catching RL. State level club soccer games can get up to 5000 people for regular round matches. This happens in more than one state comp also. Soccer also has more pro-clubs and pro-players in Oz than RU. You're flattering yourself by compring RU's size in OZ to the size of RL in Oz.

Didn't Newcastle's premier Union team, the "Wildfires", get booted from Sydney Club Rugby several years back?

F*ck me, that's got to be the ultimate humiliation

17,570 @ Campbelltown
8,609 @ Canberra
8,900 @ Aussie Stad.
15,842 @ Newcastle
7,898 @ Erricson Stad.
15,260 @ Kogarah

Total - 74,079
Average - 12,347

Season Total - 1,588,168
Season Average - 16,544

By far the worst round of the year. Interesting to note though that the corresponding 6 game round for last year got pretty much the same average with 12,545. So not a surprising result really.

Cheers.

Still poor from Souths, but better effort than past weeks.
Newcastle still doing pretty good considering our team and who we were playing.

Souths will get over 20,000 next week to boost their averages.

I'll be there!! Hoping for a fine day and over 25,000 actually.

A week before an Origin in Sydney, with all the stars out, and terrible weather in most places. Fair enough excuses, but still looks bad.
