What a game that must have been in front of a very good crowd at Whitehaven.
Cumbria led 24-0 and the NZ boys came back to draw level at 24-24 at fulltime.

Its great to see the RFL has seen the value in using its 'lower grades' to create rep sides for international competition. Areas like Cumbria or even National League 1 or 2 would be great teams to take on the likes of PNG, France or Russia.

It gives players in those competitions something to strive for, whilst at the same time helps the international game.

right on the money there Yakstorm, i think it's important that there are rep honours for all levels of the game.

It was a brilliant game, the Cumbrian lads ran their blood to water. The 18-0 score line at half time could be taken to indicate one way traffic but forget that!Their defensive effort in the 1st half was awesome with NZ A pressing the Cumbrian line several times.Ultimately,I think, that's what eventually took it's toll.In the last 12 minutes Cumbria were out on their feet.A couple of players who were carrying knocks should'nt have been out there but there were no fit subs to take their place. All credit to the Kiwis though, they kept pushing and eventually got their rewards.Fantastic entertainment well appreciated by the crowd. Two to watch from the Kiwi side would be Pelenise the substitue forward who came on and took just about every first ball up and the centre Va'asa who looked dangerous throughout the game.Roll on next year!Let's have another one in Cumbria!

Sounds like the difference between Cumbria winning and drawing was the bench didnt look strong enough whereas the Kiwis got lots of impact from theirs.

Actually,in the main, the 4 players who came off the bench made a very positive contribution to the Cumbrian display. The problem being that after 65 minutes it was difficult to put 13 players on the field who weren't by that time carrying knocks.

The uk has enough international tourists and matches, france ,png, south africa & russia should be touring oz in an attempt to bring them up to standard for a wc,also regional oz has responded well to the ruwc.
