Cup Week Experience

Hey Guys,

Well this past week i was lucky enough to be in Melbourne for CUP WEEK.
I suggest everyone to go down at some stage in there life. I had one of the enjoyful weeks of my life down there.
Monday was at the Cup Parade down the main street of Melbourne, Tuesday was obviously Cup Day, Thursday was Oaks Day. I was down there until Sunday but didn't want to go on Emirates Stakes day, as it's more of a Family Day.
I'm going again next year, but this time will be there for Derby Day as well.
Even though there are massive crowds at Flemington, you can still line up for food and drinks and be served within 5 minutes. Going to the TAB is a different story, but the bookies ring isn't that busy and you can put your bet on and be in and out within 2 minutes.
I got to be 5 metres from the fence right in front of the post on Cup Day, was a great sight! I got some photos from the 2 days at the track, when i get them on my pc i'll put some up in this topic!

Once again - i advise very strongly for everyone to go at least once in there life to this spectacular. If anyone has any queries on the carnival let me know and i'll try and answer them for you.

P.S - I only backed 2 winners on Cup Day, but i unloaded on the Oaks winner Arapaho Miss on Thursday so it was a successful two days at the races, but it didn't cover my casino losses......

Cheers,
Juggy

me and the boys were going to go down there for Derby, Cup and Oaks day but had too many pull out last minute.

when i went a couple of years ago it was awesome - getting the plastered/savabeel derby day quinella 50 times and having 100 on plastered certainly made it that much better

hopefully us guys will make it down there next year and we'll hit Crown up together

Have been to the cups few times and it's always an awesome experiance. Love the build up from the first day of the carnival and then all the way through to the last. This year watched most on the tele though and Sevens coverage was pretty good. Dropped a lot of rubbish from previous years.

Although there were stirring moments in the horse flesh, I thoughts that there were two things that really stood out. The Carlton Draught foot race was a fantastic event. I don't drink CD, but would buy a slab next year just to see if I could get a start. Never laughed so much in ages when I watched that.

Also really enjoyed watching the owner of Tears I Cry go off, when she won. Shows that the 'battlers' still have a place in the Sport of Kings. Things like that and watching the really good horses go round just keep you coming back. Even EI couldn't stop it happening.

Happy Futire Punting guys.
