You want to strip Petero of the captaincy? I know he gave away a penalty last week but seems a bit extreme to me, and would be seen by the opposition as a sign of panic.
IMO Luke Lewis would make a better captain. He's the best player at the club and is the most influential player in our side. The sooner he becomes the club captain the better. Might even help his chances at getting the (c) for NSW. It's also an advantage that he's an 80 minute player when fit... and even when he's not he'll do his best to play.

:lol::lol::lol:

It's funny because it's true. Thanks for taking him off our hands.
Who's your worst player this season? I just want a heads up on who we're going to sign for next season. They don't even have to be off contract... you guys were happy to release him to us.

-Adrian Purtell - He's the worst player at the club IMO. Absolutely terrible in defence and it's actually safer for him to go for the intercept where he has a chance at catching the ball, rather then going for the tackle where he's almost guaranteed to miss it.

It's like the spastic has no shoulders I can't remember him EVER putting a player on the ground. It's not like he reads the play poorly. He is there just gets pushed to the ground.

MX we will sign Herbert for 5 years or something rubbish like that

The start of next season would be the time, if this change is to be made.

Whilst Raider69 was joking, I'm hearing there's a fairly strong chance of Troy Thompson reuniting with Elliott in 2011.

Troy Thompson isn't that bad.

Considering Frank Puletua & Nigel Plum wont be here next year, he'd be good for depth.

Purtell tries hard every week, but he has got nothing. Elliott/minibus just has this infatuation with former Canberra players that plod, plod, plod.

The only reason they follow matt elliot is because they are just first graders and noone else wants them....and i imagine they would come cheap..

I haven't got a problem if we are only paying Purtell and Plumb bob 50k, but I have a sneaky suspicion that Smith might be on closer to 200k

I dont mind Smith ..I think he goes OK at times, maybe a bit inconsistant .

Guys lets just come to the conclusion that Daine Laurie has had his chance at this club and will eventually go to another club who will take a gamble as we have done. One or two big hits against a name forward a couple of years ago and thats about it !

I thought he went well when he got a run a few weeks back but honestly one or two games isnt much of an opportunity in a new team and environment when they continue to persist with a player like purtell who has let in more tries than anyone i think elliot has aproblem with him personality wise and will cut off his nose despite his face.. thats the difference between between elliott and Wayne Bennett ,bennett will do what benifits the team not himself...

I think Elliott is improving in this respect though stretch. He's a decent coach but when he came to Penrith he just did not fit our style of play or the makeup of the team.
Whether its through him molding his team or him learning (a bit of both I tend to think) he has started to make far better decisions.
His bench makeup and rotations have been a league better. He got Lewis into lock, has moved Jennings back to the left and has been willing to cut Smith when there are better in front of him. He has also instilled in the players a far far better attitude, in defense particularly.
I'd say Purtell is probably the only player in our team that doesn't warrant being there but even some of the best coaches love a project. I follow Arsenal and have lived through a million and one 'Wenger project' players.
Both our playing group and Elliott are probably a year away from offering a complete package, but for a team team who clearly has a lot of improvement left in them, we're travelling bloody well.

Yeah your probly right he is improving but he has had five years to do that he has lost a lot of faith from people like me in the process..

Credit where credit is due has failed every other year and this year they had to buy six extra players to get where they are so yeah if you think this year is a success ok but im not seeing a success yet...

The only reason we are travelling better is because of the aquisition of Petero and the form of Luke Lewis who is finally playing in his correct position. Remember minibus had him at half back doing all the short kicking? Lewis is one of the best runners of the ball in the game, a great defender, but can't kick for sh1t.

We really didn't deserve to win against the Cowgirls, and if we didn't, that would have been 4 losses in a row and we would have been right back to the field.

Minibus needs to coach someone to get the ball to Jennings and Coote in a bit of space, and needs to piss Purtell off out of the side and get Tighe in the centres.

I do agree with you regarding Jennings & Coote, make a huge difference with some clean early ball. Purtell gets so much more ball than Jennings.
