Prior to the awards absolutely everyone had SBW for best second-rower, yet after Cordner got it I haven't heard a peep of complaint (apart from myself lol) just a lot of people acting all wise after the event despite no-one picking Cordner over SBW prior. I guess that's understandable since everyone rates Cordner and they play for the same team.

Nevertheless it seems strange that they would overlook the obvious, much-hyped recipient, who also happened to not bother turning up. Do you reckon these two things are related? It's funny how for all the talk of a "pro-SBW bias" the bloke has never won a major NRL award despite probably being the best second-rower in the game in 2007 and 2013.

Not everyone agrees with that statement, obviously including the Dally M judges. IMO, Good player, yes. Great player, no.

He was certainly not the best in 2007 and played a bit of centre.

Anyway, he will be the greatest ever All Black to have played the game, next year.

huh? His centre days were well and truly over by 2007, he was clearly a back-rower. He was also widely regarded as the best back-rower that year but I believe a rule relating to suspensions may have ruled him out?

You're obviously not a fan and you're entitled to your opinion but there's no disputing that almost everyone who voiced an opinion thought he was the second-rower of the year. I honestly don't actually recall anyone even suggesting anyone else because it was a given.

Anyway, last thing I wanted to do is start another NRL forum style troll-fest about the merits of SBW in here, just thought some of the Roosters fans may have had some insight.

How wasn't JWH front row of the year? Please tell me it wasn't a Burgess who won

Dally M awards are a News LTD joke anyway. The 3,2,1 is a crap voting system and it probably should come down to the coaches voting on who was the best player. Too many average players stand out in shit teams and too many good players get missed in good teams.

Sunday is the award that matters :D

Fifita was a fair enough prop of the year imo

However I think it would've made more sense for JWH and SBW to be your award winners rather than RTS and BC.
