WESTS TIGERS SIGN DAINE LAURIE
Wests Tigers have today signed promising prop Daine Laurie to a two-year contract.
The 23-year-old has been in fine form for the Western Suburbs Magpies in the NSW Cup and comes to Wests Tigers as a player with plenty of potential. Laurie stands at 198cm and weighs 112kg.
He is contracted to the end of 2010 with Wests Tigers having an option for his services in 2011.
Laurie was first spotted at the Aboriginal Knock-out tournament held at Henson Park in late 2006.
After not playing league last year, Laurie was invited through his manager Christopher Haddad to move from Yamba to Sydney to play for the Magpies under coach Leo Epifania.
Wests Tigers Recruitment Manager Warren McDonnell said Laurie had impressed officials at the Magpies and Wests Tigers with his raw power.
Daine has a great attitude towards training and has a strong desire to learn and succeed, McDonnell said.
He is rough around the edges at the moment but there is a very strong NRL player waiting to be unleashed with some help from the coaching staff.
