Giving a speech to the whole city? I didn't know Bubsy had it in him. ;-)

Broncos have turned a few of our ex-fringe players into OK first graders (Kelly, Maguire). Maybe Irvine can get back into firsts there?

Either way, I think Broncos goldne days are over. They are on the slide and I look forward to them having to fight to get into the 8 in future years!

I could never understand what Smith had against Daniel Irvine.

I've seen him take Tallis head on and drive him backwards. Not abd for a bloke his size.

He has an excellent defence and can run from dummy half, and yet he got dropped for Hollingsworth.

Perhaps he was not teachers pet.

Irvine is a good player - his passing out of dummy half needed to improve but I rememebr the game against the Warriors - when the Baby Eels were babies and we won 11-10. He was one of the best on ground.

If that we his biggest problem, what do we have a coaching staff for. Its their job to work on these things not get rid of him.

There are not many perfect players around.

Still smells a bit funny to me.

The worst thing that happened to Danny was Brad Drew. They worked together well however when Drew started to fall from grace and moved to half we lacked creativity out of dummy half. Danny, defensively is a fantastic hooker however at times he can be a bit one dimensional in attack. This and the fact he is limited to hooker makes it a bit hard for him off the bench. He is a bit small for the back row. Danny needs to go to a club that doesn't base its attack out of dummy half - the Broncos would be an ideal side for him.

Smith prefers a player like Dunley or Webster who can cover a few positions.

Danny got a raw deal but he was always going to be behind Morris - I was surprised however that he wasn't given a run when Morris was at 5/8. He and Dunley would have been a good option.

He will be chatting to Brisbane today.
Okay i knew that... how did you???!!!  i thought i was the only one that had Bubsy inside info...

I hate the fact that its Brisbane, thats a whole other STATE! but if he gets first grade, i will burst! i know it sounds kinda dodgy but i get very proud of him, and to see him play with Lockyer, Tallis, Webke, i will be happy for him... the downside is if he is in their first division ie Toowoomba, i can't even see him play...

and just think how pissed off Brian Smith would be if his archrival Wayne Bennett transformed him into the buy of the year!?

I hope he does get a run in first grade. However with Motu Tony, Shaun Berrigan, Barry Berrigan, Michael Ryan and young Seymour up there it may take a few injuries to get him a run.

see thats what i thought.
and i was devestated wen i heard he was talking to them cos i figured, you know, thats it, Toowoomba for Bubs, i'll never see him. But from what im told,
Ryan is yet to prove himself, disapointing
Tony was bought as a bench player/half
Seymour's a half
and B Berrigan will be his main opponent.

If need be, i'll just make a quick trip to Brisvegas and do some knee-capping, all good. ;-)

ahh.. lets face it... im devestated...

I think you'll find that Seymour and Tony will be used in the halves - or possibly Casey McGuire and Seymour which will push Shaun Berrigan into hooker - a position where he is most effective. However, if he can start the season well he may push for a start.

They do have options, but I'm not convinced that anyone other than Shaun Berrigan is up to NRL, at this stage.

The Broncos are no mugs, that's why they are talking to Daniel Irvine, he's a better player than the other guys you mention, and certainly a better defender, and has NRL experience.

Perhaps he may get a chance at hooker with S Berrigan at half back.

I wish him luck.

i was never keen on irvine. it's kind of silly to have a hooker with a poor passing game

next thing you'll all be praising slow wingers and cross-eyed fullbacks

I can't say I was a huge fan of Irvine's but I'd have to say I'd keep him over Webster anyday. No disrespect to Ginger Meggs but I think he's just too small. Hope he proves me wrong though cause he's a tough little bugger, i'll give him that much.

I may be blonde, but sometimes i really am confused.
I've been watching Bubsy play since Flegg, and i've watched him set up tries, and offer good direction in every team he's been in.

I know, realistically, that with so many names before him that i probably won't be able to witness a game of his all next year... as he'll be a Tooowoomba boy. But i also know that Wayne Bennett wanted Casey McGuire, and he played him in Toowoomba for a year, but then he gave him a chance, and Casey has been a force in the Broncs pack ever since.
