Roosters' Tupou out for six weeks

Sydney Roosters winger Daniel Tupou will miss the next six weeks of the NRL due to a back injury.

The NSW representative suffered the injury in last week's State of Origin III.

The injury, a tear in the 23-year-old's Latissimus dorsi muscle, is identical to that which his Tricolours teammate Michael Jennings sustained in Origin II.

Jennings is still expected to miss another three weeks while Tupou is only likely to return for the final two rounds of the NRL regular season when the premiers host Melbourne and then South Sydney.

Centre Shaun Kenny-Dowall admitted the loss of Tupou was a blow for the struggling Roosters ahead of Saturday's clash with top-of-the-table Penrith.

"Especially him going through that whole Origin series he would be high on confidence," Kenny-Dowall said on Tuesday.

"Unfortunately he is going to miss five or six weeks, he is a great player and some of our young guys are really going to have to step up in his absence.

"We are really going to have to get those young fellas up and really perform at the top grade.

"We have some great young guys coming through young Nene (Macdonald) out there and Brendan Elliott who made his debut last week so we are going to have to work really hard on those guys and bring them up to NRL standard."

Macdonald shapes as the likely inclusion for Tupou against the Panthers.

In some good injury new for the Roosters both Kiwi winger Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and captain Anthony Minichiello are likely to be fit for the round 19 Rise for Alex fixture.

Tuivasa-Sheck missed the Roosters' shock last-start loss to Cronulla with a hamstring injury before their round 18 bye.

Minichiello suffered a hamstring injury in the first half against the Sharks and did not return.

Queensland back-rower Aidan Guerra didn't train with the Roosters on Tuesday after being given a rest by coach Trent Robinson but he will take the Allianz Stadium turf on Saturday.

Nein on the wing should be ok, he's done that job for us before.

Having one or two newbie outside backs should not affect us that much if, IF, the 6-13 do their jobs in the middle.

Regardless I'm looking for an 80 minute attitude this week.

Chook.

Bummer for Toops. Hope Nene has gotten over his case of the fumbles from last week....
Nene was OK sure he dropped a couple bombs but overall he was not to blame for the loss It was the more expierienced players who didn't aim up in the second half.FPN and Remi offered farkall,SBW was a little careless with his offloads,Pearce and Maloney were like dumb and dumber,I felt really sorry for Kane Evans,he was one of our best yet Robbo hauled him off the field and dropped him back to Newtown this week.WTF does he see in Frenchy?or FPN for that matter.

Both backline depleted this week. I think Panthers have the edge with depth in the backs, Roosters in the pack. Halves would have to go to Roosters with Moylan being a rookie there, but I think Soward is in the best form of the 4 named.

I think the short turnaround could be the difference. But seeing a weaker Roosters backline then I expected gives me hope as a Panthers fan. Throw in Jenko, RTS and Tupou... I think we could hang in for 60 mins or so but get blown off the park at the end.

Remi is a determined defender and a good attacking prop. He offers a lot that you are blind to because of your prejudices.

Remy is a speed hump dude,he is suposed to fill the void LOD left, the void has now become the Grand Canyon. You cant carry 2 hand bags like Remy and FPN in the same side.

Just one more reason to f**k SOO to death.

Roosters officials are filthy with the NSWRL for failing to advise them of Daniel Tupou?s torn lat muscle, which the towering winger suffered during the first half of Origin III. Tupou carried the injury for 10 days before returning to Roosters HQ on Monday, where it was finally diagnosed.

Chook.

Your f**king kidding! Robbo should ring that hook nose carnnt up and ask him WTF js going on.f**king Pinnochio only won the Origin by default.
