Purely and simply hes burntout, he needs a break.

There is some merit in saying he doesnt play good under pressure, even his coach said that.

If Bennett shows any credibility as a coach he would rest him in Australia's next match.

you don't 'rest' Darren Lockyer. He is a gun, and needs to be in the team. I think he is down on confidence, and rather than dropping him, they need to get him up. He is one good performance from being back to one of the greats!!

Fullback is where he should be playing fullstop.

Put muppet show on the wing and Barrett or Gower at 5/8th.

Barrett/Johns combo always works well.

Lockyer is getting targeted by these big kiwi forwards in defence.

Johns was sh*t last night. His defence was turnstile like.

As for Lockyer, he needs a good long break, but he has been picked as captain, therefore, you don't dump him. It would be stupid.

Darren "If it wasn't for me we wouldn't have won the Tri Nations last year or the Ashes before that" Lockyer.

4. Matt Cooper/Matt King/Brent Tate
5. Eric Grothe
6. Trent Barrett
7. Andrew Johns/Scott Prince
8. Steve Price
9. Dean Young
10. Luke Bailey
11. Steve Simpson
12. Nathan Hindmarsh
13. Ben Kennedy

14. Petero Civoniceva
15. Luke O'Donnell
16. Craig Gower
17. Anthony Tupou/Dean Widders/Clint Newton

I dont think there was much pressure on Lockyer in this game besides that he was going into the series out of form... And this thread is simply making him a skapegoat.

If they play the same on Friday, then the whole board needs looking at, team, coach etc..

Was always going to be awkward having two playmakers, especially when it is two players that are use to running the show solo. Give them a game or two to sort it out

The amount of Johns, Lockeyer, and Covell bashing in here is unbelievable. Have one season of mediocrity and everybody is on his back, it's almost as if people forget he's DONE IT ALL, he's won origin series, premierships, ashes, and if there was a trans-tasmin he'd win that too, he's played non stop footy since he was about 18. One of the greats of the game getting hammered left right and centre... Can't wait for him to prove the doubters wrong ala Johns SOO 2 and L.C vs Roosters.

Its similar to last year. Lockyer looked burnt out earlier on but hit his strap at the right time. If that will happen again is another question.

The Lockyer bashing here is laughable. When it comes to that man, form is temporary class is permanent. You certainly wouldn't drop him for Barrett - on Saturday, he was outplayed by Motu Tony, who was playing wing for Hull and last played in the QLD Cup down here, and Jeremy Smith, a Parramatta reserve grader.

yes johns was crap, but at least he ran at the line and tried some stuf like that mid field cross field chip that went to the winger and was nearly flipping brilliant. but yes, he was crap. although i did laugh wen he broke the line just to drop it cold.
