FORMER Origin and Australia forward Dave Taylor has declared he wants to play for England next season.

The former Titans forward will be playing in Super League in 2016 with French side Catalans Dragons.

He qualifies for England through a Cumbrian grandfather.

“I’d love to play as a dual-international, for both Australia and England,” the one-cap Kangaroo told English newspaper, League Express.

“Hopefully if I have a good year next year, maybe I can get picked. It’s definitely a goal of mine.”

Taylor, though, may struggle to crack into the English side if coach Steve McNamara is retained.

McNamara has previously called on Aussie Chris Heighington and Kiwi Rangi Chase, who qualified through ancestry and residency respectively. But this year he overlooked Adam Cuthbertson despite his strong form for Leeds. The ex-Knights forward qualified through his Warrington-born father and was keen to be involved in the series against New Zealand.

England’s strong pack features the likes of James Graham, Chris Hill and Sean O’Loughlin and will be boosted in 2016 by the return of Sam Burgess.

I guess there's always a minuscule chance that he lives up to his potential, but no one will be holding their breath.

The more laughable is he somehow got a test for Australia!

have a look at the test selection system, 2 blues and 2 toads in an era when qld backrowers have been shithouse.......all you needed to do was make the recent qld team to ride coat tails into the aus test team

I never thought I'd see this word used in relation to Dave Taylor.

Clearly he attended the alien school of souffser loyalty.

If they are residing full time in France, the following will be able to play for France
Louis Anderson
Scott Dureau
And Ben Pomeroy at the end of 2016
