I don't like the direction this club is going in. What is going on up there, we seem to be more interested in buying dud players then retaining juniors?

Buying dud players? Not retaining juniors?
Who are our dud buys? There is this strange thing called a salary cap you know.

Ok. That's not good. BUT I'm going to look at this in a positive light and hope that with the money we have spare we can resign our most valuable player... Karmichael Hunt. Please

Teo and Setu so far, are duds, letting Civoncevia go for Clinton, albeit a couple of seasons ago, was a terrible decision.

Is it possible Taylor was dropped because he had informed the club weeks ago that he was going to be leaving?

What Hell said. We need Hunt more, much more than Taylor

Really? I'm not suggesting that Hunt is not a good player, he's brilliant! But we have so much depth in the backline and are very light on in the forwards. Taylor is/was easily our best prospect to help fill the void of Webke/Civo/Hannant.

I'm not saying that Ivan is a bad coach, but I am a bit surprised by one of his comments. "the most important thing for us is the game we have on the weekend". Isn't this perhaps a little short sighted? Don't we want to be planning to build a team that will win lots of games in the future (e.g. near the finals). And it's a bit of a contradiction because when Dave was playing we were winning games, and now he's not there we are starting to lose them.

Yeah but Hunt sets up or scores nearly all of our tries. We struggled to attack against Manly without him we only really scored off kicks. Especially that Locky is staying on now, we need Hunt for their combination.

So Bruno isn't even sure he's gone yet? Poor form from Dave's camp if true.

OUT-of-sorts prop David Taylor has reportedly signed a three-year deal with Souths after being omitted from Brisbane's NRL side for a fourth successive week.

Taylor's manager Col Davis last night quashed reports the 20-year-old had already agreed to terms with South Sydney on a three-year deal.

However, the Nine Network reported on Tuesday night that Taylor was bound for the Rabbitohs.

It is understood that the Broncos football management and Taylor's agent had agreed to postpone negotiations until he had broken back into the first grade side.

And Broncos boss Bruno Cullen expected that to happen sooner rather than later.

``We expected him back in the first grade side, through form or injury or State of Origin or whatever the case may be,'' Cullen told AAP on Tuesday night.

``It (the television report) is certainly news to me. I have not heard from Dave Taylor, or his management or anyone about that.

``It would not be a good way to find out if it is in fact true.''

Broncos coach Ivan Henjak yesterday declared he would not be railroaded into picking the out-of-favour enforcer in first grade in order to secure his signature.

"For me that is not an issue, I am picking the team on form and on who I think can get the job done," Henjak said.

"If it affects negotiations then so be it, the most important thing for us is the game we have on the weekend.

"Dave is going OK in Queensland Cup, but he has some targets he has to reach. He is nearly there and he will start to be considered for the NRL.

"He isn't kicking cans. His attitude is good. He is doing extra work, which we need him to do and he is doing everything possible to get back in the team.

"He is at least putting himself in the picture."

Entering Friday night's derby against the Titans on the back of successive defeats, Henjak said he expected his men to lift for the occasion.

"It is a challenge for everyone at the club," Henjak said.
"For the first time we are feeling a little bit of pressure about getting a result and we are coming into a period that is generally very hard for us and it would be good to put another two points in the bank.

'The atmosphere and the crowd and the build-up to the week, the players will know it's a bit of a different game.

"But they look forward to it. There has been some real crackers between the clubs and it has built up a bit of a tradition in its short history. I'm sure both teams will be ready to play.

"What I have seen so far in the clashes that we've had they've been fairly ferocious and competitive.

"You certainly don't need any help to focus the players, but in saying that we're coming off two losses so I'd expect them to be as focused as they'd ever be."

Broncos hooker Aaron Gorrell has been ruled out with a shoulder injury while Karmichael Hunt (thigh) and Justin Hodges (hamstring) remain in doubt.

Your idiotic idea of us need Taylor more than Hunt is just ridiculous. Without Hunt we lose so much strike power in attack and if you watched the game last week you would of noticed. Taylor is a great but he will only do a few good things in a game then go missing...
We have way more depth in our forwards than in our backs too.

Taylor needs to be able to play more than 20 mins a game. As it is over the past 3 yrs he has failed to get that far. Under Souths and Tallis he might thrive, good luck to him if he does (will help QLD in the next 5 yrs) but if it means the Broncos have a greater chance to keep Hunt then adios Taylor.

I agree that Hunt is crucial, but I think Taylor is even more crucial. Yes, I saw the game and our attack missed Hunt, but it also missed Hodges! If Hunt wasn't around our backline might look like:

1. Hodges
2. Winterstein
3. Beale
4. Folau
5. Yow Yeh

OR

1. Hoffman
2. Winterstein
3. Hodges
4. Folau
5. Yow Yeh

Both of these are still devastating backlines IMO. You can't seriously believe we have more (quality) depth in the forwards. Our two best props are Clinton and Kenny... whilst are good, are still not as devastating as the above two backlines. You can even throw Glenn, Hewitt and Michaels into the mix above.

I don't think Hodges would have the same effect at fullback as he did in 06. He's older and probably slower now, plus he only plays 2 out of every 3 games, if that. I think Hunt is our most valuable player, without him we are nothing. He's the one that gets the ball in the second man plays, he's the one that sets up tries. Hodges and Hoffman wouldnt be good taking those right options that Hunt does.

it seems that all the articles relating to Taylor signing for the Bunnies have been taken off the net. also if they are going to pay him the offer that it was originally reported (250k a year) then that is way more than he is worth IMO.
