New South Wales 201 for 2 (Warner 135*, Steven Smith 31) beat Chennai Super Kings 155 (Hussey 37, O'Keefe 3-28) by 46 runs

Players/Officials: David Warner
Matches: Chennai Super Kings v New South Wales at Chennai
Series/Tournaments: Nokia Champions League T20
Teams: Australia | Chennai Super Kings | India | New South Wales

David Warner shook the Chepauk pitch out of its death-like slumber through a mix of clean straight hitting, including a six out of the stadium, and audacious switch-hits, one of them a pull for six over extra cover. On a square on which 135 has often looked like a winning total, Warner alone scored 135 off 69, the highest individual score in Champions league history, his second Twenty20 century, and considering the slow-and-low conditions one of the best T20 centuries. In the process he took New South Wales to the top of Group A, and through to the semi-final.

There was brute hitting involved, but that was only the latter part of the systemic dismantling of the Chennai Super Kings, who too had a chance of making it to the next round at the start of the match. That, though, was only until Warner started bringing the Super Kings down to their knees. After that all they could do was watch befuddled, and perhaps admire. They sure did beeline for Warner, to shake his hand once he was done.

Love the fact that he scored 22 runs off the 6 balls he faced right handed. When he's on, he's a freak. If he can find consistency, he can revolutionise batting in limited overs cricket.

Bollinger, for the Super Kings, went 0/38 off 3.

Talking about backing the wrong horse.

I don't doubt he's made a good slice of coin from the tournament. But I imagine he'd be annoyed he doesn't get a chance to play in the finals.

Bit lucky at times, but yeah great innings.

Harsha Bhogle sooking about the switch hitting was funny too. I'm sure he'd be complaining just as loudly if an Indian was doing it.

Are you allowed to switch hit in real cricket or do you need to notify the umpire?

Anyway, if Warner were a wicketkeeper he'd have played 10 tests by now but since he's a pure batsman he's an overrated heap of crap T20 only batter  The guy is Ryan Campbell but with talent

Warner does it again, and Cummings seems to be able to take wickets when all those around him are getting belted

Not only explosive but consistent. Will be interesting seeing how he goes if given the chance in the ODI side.

I have a soft spot for Starc as a Wests boy, but that's it. Have long said he should be no where near a full strength Blues side, but I will say he has improved over the past year. Not enough to get him in over guys like Hazelwood or even Cockley, but closer.
