whats so good abt the UK seriously

money cant buy a quality league.. id die 2 play in nrl

The UK my friend is the centre of the Universe. Everything that is good about the world either came from England or was started by an Englishman. The country simply kicks ass.

Seriously it must be attractive to a lot of players as a very high percentage of those who come over to play never go back when they retire.

The fans are also a lot more of an attraction for players too. ALL players who tour the UK bang on about the crowds and the noise. 5,000 people at a Super League game is a better atmosphere than 50,000 at an NRL match. Having your name chanted by fans who worship the ground you walk on is a massive ego boost.

In terms of the rugby there are only 2 differences between Super League and the NRL. The first is the strength in depth, in Aus youngster will play League in large numbers because its a fairly big sport meaning the Lockyers and Fittlers will be found. In the UK our Lockyers and Fittlers never play the game and can be found at 30 still pretending to be football players in the pub leagues. Football is so massive over here than you are pretty much a freak if you don't play or follow it. The other difference is the utter ineptness of the ref's, which prevents the players from playing the game properly as cheating is far more productive. Teams are always inside the 10, always hold down and always mess about at the play the ball.

De Vere won't be anything special in Super League I wouldn't have thought but he does look a better signing than some of the trash recently like Johns, Ainscough, McKenna or Mellor.

:( Mick will be very sorely missed by all of us in broncoland. A true champion on and off the field - I don't think you could ask for a better clubman than DeVere. Very much an unsung hero and always puts in 110% -- the Giants have a great signing! Best of luck mick!

ROFLMAO @ Englishman. If you were talking about London, you'd probably be right (Though NY may have a claim), but the North Of England is a bleak picture of post-industrial depression  . I'm sure Orwell would probably be less impressed with the place than he was with it in the 1930's

Seriously, Northern England isn't as bad as most outside the area seem to think it is. We've got some beautiful countryside and cities. Especially Liverpool. That's the dog's bóllocks nowadays!

Good to see some quality players signing with the weaker SL clubs. Huddersfield are surely a sleeping giant (excuse the pun), ready to awake. They have been good on the field this year, but rediculous ticket prices have stopped their support from growing much. With a big name signing, and better ticket pricing, they have the backing, stadium and RL heritage to become a good team.

Warrington also signed GB centre Martin Gleesopn during the weak for a transfer fee of 200000 quid. Super League needs the lesser clubs getting stronger before it gets the weak in week out intensity of the NRL.

By the way, I thought Leeds was quite a nice city when I was up there. Didn't get to Hudds though.

Shame it hasn't had a League side since the 60's.

Good to see that Michael is taking his career further.

Remember Michael, Campbelltown's still your home and if things don't work out in England your more than welcome to come home and play for the Tigers...

GOOD LUCK!
