Of course I will say that this is another casualty of Australia's rigid rating system and its a real shame to because beyond the horrible look and feel of this games actual game play could lay so much else, if not just for comedic value.

Metacritic tells an interesting story with this one because its scores range right across the board from IGN giving it 2/10 to Destructiod giving it a 10. That kind of response is interesting enough but read this Gamesradar article for full details on why this one might be worth your time.

I am currently waiting on my copy to come through from the UK and I will be recording a Full Access Preview to put on my blog in the next few weeks if anybody is interested.

I actually finished Deadly Promonition a week ago and it's freakin' awesome. I got it cheap and thought I'd only play it once or twice for a laugh and then pop it back on the shelf, but once I got into it I couldn't put it down. I'd rate it in my Top 10 games of all time.

Yes, the visuals and gamplay are (incredibly) dated, but the story and characters are great, far better than the cut-and-paste jobs seen in my games these days. I had no idea where the story was leading and every twist and turn had me wanting to play just a few more minutes to see what was around the corner.

And yes, I have tried the Sinners Sandwich... it was delicious!

Hahaha trying to atone for past sins? lol

Its good to hear positive feedback from a gamer as well as the reviews.

I honestly think that a lot of emphasis nowdays is placed on the technical side of gaming and while it is important I think solid characterisation and story can always make up for it.

Couple of questions how long did it take you hours wise?
and
Is the open world as rich as its being made out to be?

Cheers.

It took me around 20 hours to finish (I really should remember, it updates the total playing time after every stage/section), but I didn't play a lot of the side quests. I could easily see another 5-10 hours if you want to play them, but I found the story so good that I didn't want make around with any extra stuff.

The world is good, but I wouldn't put it up there with other open-worlds like GTAIV or Red Dead. Not a lot to see or do, and the PS2-style graphics mean that you won't be exploring it looking for beautiful vistas or anything. The best open-world ever created was in Shenmue, and this has some of the feeling of that game, which is great. But really, you'll be playing this for the story, and don't be surprised if you only see the the open-world sections as placeholders between action/storytelling sections.

I actually feel jealous of you having a chance to play through this for the first time, it's a wild ride... so says Mr Stewart.

Yeah i expected as much regarding the open world. I do however like the idea of individual characters making up the open world rather than just repeated NPC's.

Yeah i am hoping it gets here just in time for my birthday when i should get a day off work to really absorb it.
