I grew up in the 90s and we had whole training sessions about putting players on their backs and peeling off slowly. All this before Melbourne even entered the comp.
What about the tackled player also stopping when held is called , 90% of the time they are still pushing forward encouraging the defender to stay committed to the tackle , or even crawling on the ground while the tackler tries to get off but gets all tangled up.
Between held and actually stopping can be 3-4 metres at times
Saw the replay of the Sharks and Roosters game. I'm no Gallen fan, but I thought he was hard done by.
That was a clear cut penalty for mine, but the problem is the inconsistency with which it is called.
