Defense and attention to detail

Today we looked too compressed, unlike last time when we were overstretched. Strange cos today's conditions were perfect for expansive footy. Hell knows what Cleary was thinking.

However, I'm more worried about our unforced errors with the ball, rather than our poor defense. This is a sign of poor attention to detail from the individuals, it's inexcusable. Maloney probably had his worst game for the Warriors,. Inu's kick out on the full was the dumbest move of the season. Hohaia was rubbish, our forwards were useless. Our territorial kicking game is non-existant. Going by the last two weeks, I'd hazard a guess that the Warriors' players' collective IQ is the lowest in the NRL.

Johnson was good, but I'd much raher see him do this sort of stuff close to the line and not spend his energy on length-of-the-field sprints. Or have some support to do all the running once the line is breached.

I don't care about Inu's kick out on the full. A couple of cms and it would have been a beauty. I am far more pissed off with our wingers coming in off their wing and Hohaia.

Didn't expect us to win. We never do in Townsville. Also the late time slot was always gonna make the second half hard work.

What made me angry is we had the chance to - all we needed was a try after half time and to grind away from there. We were so freaking close!

Poor options and passes from Hohaia, Brown, Maloney cost us bigtime.
Poor defense from the Fish/Inu/Maloney/Brown combo also.

On the plus side, Johnson is a real deal freak. The kid deserves to be in a winning side.

Inu looked good on attack at centre, but he always would - didn't do much different than he would have on the wing tbh. He's just generally a very skilled athlete.

Don't forget Vatuvei, he is the worst defender in the NRL, and the wing is probably the most important defensive position because it's so exposed, especially if Ivan wants a compressed defense. That was crazy with two mud defenders on the wing.

Yeah hard.
I think Fish is a good long term wing prospect but maybe he isn't ready yet. We need a win HARDOUT against the Storm.
I'd bring in either a specialist winger in Tupou, or a specialist centre in Moon / Metcalf.
What I would not do is bring Berrigan in at centre... Cleary on the other hand...

I don't mind a compressed defence, BUT ON YOUR LINE????? Thats like, here you go, score a try.

Fish is a fullback and he'll take time to be a winger. I though Inu was relatively good defensively in the centre, at least the 1st half. Then it all fell apart.

SJ scored a blistering try, but is he organising our attack? Our kicking game is not getting better....

Manu? Does he need to spend some time in the Vulcans? Billy Tupou is a good reliable player. He'd add more than Manu right now.

This team is young though. Real young. Their inexperience stills out like dogs tests. Having said that, it was a night where nothing came off.
